The next day Ava woke up feeling awkward and anxious about everything that happened last night. She wanted to call Bri and talk to her about everything, but then again, she didn't really know what to say. She took out her phone and started typing her a message. It sounded dumb and she wanted to delete it, but she sent it anyway. Bri responded quickly asking if she could come over. Bri didn't want to talk about everything over text. Ava responded with a yes and went to go find some clothes to put on.
Within 30 minutes, Bri was knocking on her apartment door. For whatever reason, Ava was nervous. Her hands were sweating as she opened the door.
"Hey" Ava said as she stepped aside to let Bri in.
"Hey. How are you?" Bri asked.
"I'm good. I'm good" Ava responded.
"Good to finally hear you say it" Bri say getting a little shady.
"Mmhmm" Ava mumbled back.
"So did you want to talk about everything?" Bri asked.
"Yeahhhhh..." Ava trailed off.
"I'm listening" Bri responded.
"I'm sorry I didn't text you back before. That was dumb. I should have at least told you I was ok."
"Yes. You should have" Bri said matter-of- factly.
"Do you forgive me?" Ava asked.
"Of course" Bri replied.
"Oh good!" Ava said leaning in to hug Bri.
Bri hugged her tight and let her go.
"Sooo that's it? What about the other stuff?" Bri asked.
"Oh" Ava said.
"Yeah...oh" Bri replied.
"Well..." Ava started.
"I really enjoyed what happened last night. Did you?" Bri asked.
"Of course! It was amazing!" Ava responded as she blushed.
Bri smiled but tried to hide it "Ok, I'm glad" Bri replied trying to keep it cool.
"So what about the other night... on your bed. What was up with that? You just ghosted me, and I really couldn't get a straight answer from you when I tried to talk about it yesterday. Did you not mean to do it?" Bri asked.
"Yeah. I did" Ava responded.
"Did you not like it?" Bri asked.
"I liked it" Ava replied.
"Ok.. then... what am I missing? Why aren't we trying to be more?" Bri asked.
"Well as you saw yesterday... Maya is back in the picture."
"But you all are just friends right? What does that have to do with us?" Bri asked.
Ava was silent.
"You still like her, don't you?" Bri questioned.
Ava looked down.
"You know she has a damn fiancé right?. Do you really think this is a good idea? What did she even say to get you to say yes again? It's probably all lies" Bri said as she started to get upset.
"It's not!" Ava said defensively.
"Yeah ok" Bri said rolling her eyes. "Why can't you see past her bullshit? She's clearly playing games" Bri said honestly.
