The next day Ava decided to go out for a while. She was going to go for a walk or maybe a light jog. She felt like her mind was racing and she hoped going out would help. She stayed up most of the night thinking about everything Bri said yesterday. She had finally made a decision, but of course she was still wondering if it was the right one. She decided to give it another day until she told Bri her answer.
Ava sat down to put on her running shoes. Once they were all laced up, she looked around for her keys and phone. As she was looking, she heard a knock at the door. She suspected that it was Bri. Most of the time Bri called or texted before coming over, but there were a few times when she didn't. It would make sense that she would randomly come over now with everything going on between them. It honestly wasn't the best time though. Ava wasn't ready to talk to her right now.
There was another knock on the door and Ava walked quickly to the door to answer it. She swung the door open and there stood Maya.
"Maya?!?" Ava shouted.
"Hey babe!" Maya said throwing her arms around Ava's shoulders giving her a hug.
Ava was too shocked to hug her back.
"What are you doing here?" Ava asked.
"I'm back" Maya said as she stepped into the apartment.
"Back for what?" Ava asked.
"For good" Maya replied.
"What?!?" Ava asked.
"Yeah. It didn't work out with John. It's over. I'm moving back" Maya said.
"Wha?" Ava said nearly speechless.
"Yeah. Isn't it great!" Maya said.
"Ye—ahh" Ava said slowly.
"What's wrong?" Maya asked.
"Nothing. I'm just so surprised to see you right now. I'm just trying to take it all in. Let's have a seat on the couch" Ava suggested.
"I missed you!" Maya said as she sat down.
"I missed you too.... A lot. To be honest, I still think about you all the time" Ava said.
"Awww. Really?" Maya asked.
"Yeah, of course. I liked you a lot, and then things ended so quickly. It's hard for me to just let all those feelings go" Ava replied.
"Babe.. I'm so sorry. I felt the same way" Maya said sympathetically.
Ava started tearing up. This was all too much for her. She couldn't believe that Maya was back. For good. She was actually here to stay. She was just getting used to her being away and now she was back.
"I'm sorry. I'm not trying to make this a sad moment" Ava said laughing.
"It's ok babe" Maya said wiping Ava's tears away.
"So um.. what happened with John?" Ava asked.
"Honestly... I found out he was cheating."
"HOW?!" Ava questioned.
"Well I could just tell that something wasn't right. It didn't take much for me to get him to tell the truth. I asked and it came right out. I was honest with him about what I had been doing too and we both decided to end it" Maya explained.
"Wow!" Ava responded.
"Yeah... It was crazy" Maya said.
There was a silence as Ava shook her head.
"Are you ok?" Maya asked.
"Yeah.. I'm just trying to wrap my mind around all of this" Ava said.
