*House party scene*: The party took place is a nice, big, brick, two story house. There were close to 100 people there. The music was loud, and everyone was having a good time.

Ava walked up to the door with Maya. The door was open, so they just walked on in. They walked around greeting people they knew then they headed to the basement. In the back there were drinks and they each grabbed one. They stood around for a while just enjoying the music and watching people. An upbeat song came on, and they started dancing as more people filled the already crowded basement. Maya started talking to a coworker she ran into, and Ava took this time to go to the bathroom really quick. She let Maya know she'd be right back, and she headed up the stairs slowly sliding past loud, drunk people. As soon as she reached the main level, she spotted Bri sitting on a couch.

What  the hell is she doing here?!!? Ava thought to herself.

Ava waved and gave a small smile in an effort to not look awkward. She eventually made her way up the second set of stairs and walked around looking for the bathroom. This house was huge. There were a lot of rooms, but she knew she'd figure out which one was the bathroom eventually. After opening several doors with no luck, she turned around to head to the other end of the hall. Mid turn she bumped into Bri.

"Oh shhiii! Ava exclaimed.

"Hi" Bri said.

"You scared the crap out of me" Ava said putting her hand over her heart. "Hey...What are you doing here?" Ava asked.

"Jason invited me" Bri replied.

Ava didn't even think about that.

Ava and Jason worked together so of course he got invited to the party and brought Bri. It was also just a coincidence that Jason and Bri were really close friends. They hung out a lot, and they had been friends since middle school.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scar you. I  just wanted  to see how you were" Bri said.

"I'm... good" Ava said slowly, looking straight at Bri.

"Oh.. Well that's good.... You know you could have responded to my texts and calls to let me know that though" Bri said directly.

Ava put her head down "I know. I've just been busy."

"With what? You could have at least texted back. That takes two seconds" Bri responded.

"I'm sorry" Ava replied.

"Soooo.. What's going on with you? I haven't heard from you since.. We... you  know..." Bri asked.

Ava got anxious and didn't know how to answer. "I should really get back downstairs" Ava said after a long silence as she walked past Bri.

"Wait" Bri said and she grabbed Ava's hand to hold her back.

"Did I do something wrong?" Bri asked.

"No. But I really do have to go. I need to get back to Maya" Ava said.

"Maya?!?! So you're back hanging with her now and not me?" Bri asked

"I don't know. Yeah... Kinda. We're just friends now though" Ava said.

"Just last week you were over her. You told her you didn't want to be friends remember? What happened to that huh? Bri questioned.

"She called and said she wanted to talk and I went over..." Ava explained.

"And you fell for whatever lies she told you, didn't you?" Bri interrupted.

"What? You don't even know what she said" Ava stated.

"I don't need to. I know how she is" Bri replied.
