I slam my face into my pillow after I get back into my apartment. Boys are weird, so weird, and I'm either to obliviously or to stupid to read them. I'm glad that Annie isn't home right now, I'm just in the mood to wallow in self doubt. I sigh and try to convince myself that Peeta was just being friendly, and that 1 date means absolutely nothing. I get up and go hop in the shower, taking about 20 minutes, trying to wash away the stress of college days.

After I get out I find Annie in her usual spot on her bed, and wonder where she went, but know not to ask. I suck in my face and play it cool, jumping under my bed covers. "You missed a call on your phone." She calls over to me, but doesn't mention anything about the date. "Oh, thanks." I reply and pick up my phone to see who it was from. Mom my phone screen reads, and I sigh as I remember it's Friday, and I'm suppose to call her on the weekends. I click send and wait a little for the phone to pick up. "Hi Katniss!" I hear a chorus of voices blurt out, and realize I must be on speaker phone. "Hi guys!" I reply enthusiastically.

"How was your week?"

"Pretty good." I say.

"Anything exciting happen?" My dad asks.

I go silent for a moment as I debate whether or not to tell them about the date. I decide against it; they've never been that great with the subject of 'guys' and probably would want me focusing on my studies anyways. "Oh no. Getting used to this big city is excitement enough for me." They all laugh in the background.

"Guess what Katniss? I made it into the lead spot for The Nutcracker! You will be coming to watch this December right?" Prim practically screams through the phone. "Congrats little duck. Of course I'm coming." I say as I rub my ear from the noise.

"And I helped deliver the cutest little baby at work today." My mom gushes. I smile. Sounds exactly like my family. Over excited about the strangest things to me, but always so happy in life.

"How about you dad?" I say, trying to steer away from my mom and Prim. "Oh work's the same, business it getting a little tighter but everything is fine." I nod, but then relize they can't see me. "Well I've got to go. I'll call you guys next week okay?"

"Bye Kat!" Then I sign off. I throw the phone down and the dresser and lay back on my bed. I catch Annie smiling out of the corner of my eye and cock my eyebrow. "What?" I say.
"You really love your family, don't you? And they really love you. I just think its sweet, that's all." I smile at Annie's comment then decide to go to bed.

"Okay, remember that we had to read pages 345 to 370 and write an essay on the proper usage of grammar." Annie tells me and I nod. We walk to Writing Skills, the only class we have together, side by side. I decided I could use the company, and its better than walking alone. The wind starts to pick up and I hug my coat tight around me. "Almost October, sure ain't ready for this cold weather. In Florida it almost never got cold." Annie speaks up over the sound of the breeze. She turns to look at me for a response, and I'm about to give it, when out of nowhere I see a flash of red hair and Annie squeal.

Someone face plants into her and she lands sprawled on her back out on the grass, stunned. Someone sits on their hands and knees next to her. The boy perks up and stands right up,  brushing himself off. "Oh my gosh ma'am, I am so sorry. I did not even watch where I was going." He says, extending a hand to a dazed looking Annie, then helping her up. He begins gathering her things up and I am snapped out of my daze. I leap into action and pick up her books and such. After we have everything gathered I hand the stuff back to Annie and catch a glimps of the man. He has blonde hair, with a hint of gold in it, and big dimples. He is actually quite handsome looking if you were to ask probably any girl on this block.

He places Annie's things in her hand as she stands there silently. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out something white. "Wanna sugar cube?" Annie cocks her brow at him, then shakes her head. "Oh I'm Finnick by the way, Finnick Odair."

"Annie Cresta." Annie replies quietly. Finnick grabs her hand firmly and shakes it. "What a pleasure to meet you ladies. I am very sorry for the inconvient meeting, butit was sure a pleasure. Now I must be on my way." And with that he winks and heads off in the opposite direction of us.

"Well that was weird." I blurt out. "Yeah" Annie whispers to herself. She stares off in the direction Finnick was walking and seems to be in a trance. I laugh then wave my hand in front of her face. "Earth to Annie! Hah I think someone is a little star struck." This snaps her back into reality and she starts laughing. "Who me? I don't even know that guy. He just wasn't paying attention to where he was walking."

"Mhhmm. He was the one not watching." Annie playfully shoes my face with her hand and huffs off towards class. I hurry behind her to catch up, as I don't want to be late for class.
