Another OC? Yep. (I made six in this "set" and called it "The OC Squad", so there will be two more of these types of pages, not including this one.) Another major WIP? Yep. Not developed much past appearance and basic personality? Yep. (I did think about her a little bit more than Emily or Lily though) I finished Sophie the same day I finished Kelli. Like the other OCs I've drawn, I decided to experiment and try to draw a new hairstyle and outfit and just generally try to improve my art style.
Ta-daaaaaaaa! (JSYK, the name in the heart is "Sophie" and her sweatshirt says "Root For The RAPTORS!". Also sorry the lighting is bad.)
You know the drill, here are the features:
-The bun=>I wanted to try drawing a different hairstyle and the bun was the first thing I thought of that I haven't already done
-Hair color=>I decided that I would do a color that I haven't drawn before, so I went with a "gray" (her hair isn't actually gray, it's supposed to be more of a dirty blonde). This not only made her different from the other characters but showed the direction the hair was going and made the bun more realistic
-Chin=>All of my other characters' faces were pretty round, so I attempted to draw a more pronounced chin
-Hoodie=>I wanted to try drawing a hoodie since I haven't done so before, and I thought that it should be a school-spirit hoodie, so I came with the slogan of "Root for the Raptors". This also minorly adds to her personality
-Jean Shorts=>I thought that these shorts would complete the outfit, adding a bit more to her personality and helping me practice drawing jeans
-Background=>I wanted each character to have a different background and for the background to have a good balance of black and white, so I thought of ovals. It's also a minor representation of her personality, showing that she can "bounce back" from anything and is "somebody to lean on"Here is the personality that I came up with for her:
-Aged 12 years
-Shows school spirit
-Friends with Kelli and Emily
-Very supportive, wants everyone to be themselves, and is thus a really great friend
-Well-liked by manyNow for the major critiques:
-Hairline isn't really realistic
-Those lips do nooooooooooooottt look right (more specifically, the top lip is way larger than the bottom lip)
-That chin looks out of place, considering the shape of the rest of the face
-The left (from her perspective) eye is larger than the other one and is looking in the other to the left, while the other eye is looking straight.
-The forearms are way thinner than the upper arms
-Head is disproportionately larger than the torso
-The legs are disproportionately smaller than the torso
-That face is not symmetricalAnd here's how my art style improved/what I'm proud of:
-The bun itself, I think I achieved the spherical look pretty well
-I like the hoodie, you can tell it has a hood and the pockets look pretty realistic. I'm also proud of coming up with the slogan
-I wasn't confident in drawing hands (that's why all my character's hands are behind their backs. Artist hacks!!!) but in this drawing I attempted to actually draw them and I'm glad that they're pretty realisticSo, that's all!
Just dream until your dreams come true! Ta-ta for now!
