This is the second OC that I have created. Another major WIP (not developed past appearance and basic personality) she was basically a way to try to better my art skills. I drew her in a similar style to Emily (I'll point out the changes), and finished her the day after I finished Emily.
There she is! (JSYK, the text in the white part of the background reads "Lily" faintly. Now that you know, you might be able to make that out, but honestly I can't see the 'y'.)
So here's the changes in my art style that I made when I drew her:
-The eyelids are more pronounced (they were drawn on Emily but were really faint so it didn't really come out in the picture)
-There's less detail in the lips (they aren't colored)
-I decided to include more of the legs (I even showed kneecaps, though the lines are faint so they might not be seeable in the picture)Here are the major critiques I notice looking back on this character:
-The left arm (from her perspective) is way thicker than the other one
-That-does not look like a braid
-Those eyelids do not look pretty
-The hair isn't entirely realistic with the braid coming in front of the shoulders
-The leg split should occur sooner (leg-wise)Here's what I'm proud of in this artwork (and what I improved):
-The hair covering the eyes
-I fixed the shoulders (at least on the right side [from her perspective])
-The jean shorts are pretty realistic
-The T-Shirt collar is pretty realistic
-The legs are pretty realisticOkay, now I'll list Lily's features and my reason for including them:
-The name Lily=>Again, I thought it was a pretty name and would fit the character
-Dark hair=>Since I've already drawn someone with blonde hair, I wanted to try drawing someone with black hair. It also makes the art have more of a balance of black and white
-Braid=>I thought a braid would fit the character, plus I wanted to try drawing one (didn't work out so well, but I'm glad I attempted)
-Jean Shorts=>As with the braid, I wanted to try drawing jeans, and if they weren't short I couldn't show the end of them. I also thought that they would complete the outfit.
-T-Shirt Design=>Same as Emily, I wanted a graphic tee and thought the message would be fitting for one and also align with the character. It also adds more black to the drawing.
-Background=>I wanted the drawing to have a pretty good balance of black and white, so a split-half-and-half background would accomplish that. It also shows how divided she can be about herself.Onto personality (or what little I have of it) as well as other details I have thought of for Lily:
-Aged 12 years
-Friends with Emily and Piper
-Pretty smart
-Very Hesitant
-Is creative but unwilling to show her work to anyone besides her friends. She's afraid of disappointment but has luckily opened up to Emily with her ideas.
-She tends to stray away from the spotlight, letting Emily show Lily's ideas and letting everyone assume they were her work (but still giving credit that they were Lily's ideas)And that's all!
Just dream until your dreams come true! Ta-ta for now!
