At first meeting, Buttercup is puts on a facade of friendliness and politeness, and will only drop it to bring frustration and despair to others. He has a malevolent disposition and a "killed or be killed" philosophy, that he berates others for not following it (and criticizes others if they act differently from their normal behavior to follow this philosophy. If need be, Buttercup is a manipulative, devious, and cunning planner who can be subtle. If things don't go well for him, he'll start to become desperate he will take vain attempts to save his own scales. Though he has the will to live, Buttercup seems to have lost the ability to feel emotions at any type of intense level. He is sadistic though.

Buttercup's main color is shamrock green with bright bumblebee yellow highlight scales, sail, and leaf-tail. His eyes are a deep cyan that appears to be black, and his wing membranes is a pale cantaloupe color. The transition scales between his sail and main color is fern green, and his underbelly is daffodil yellow.
