To get to know me a bit more, here's some of the artwork that I've created! Includes my sketches, a colored pencil drawing, and some digital art. Hope you like!
I first got into the Wings of Fire (WoF) fandom after my little sister got into the series (I was a bit old then) but once I had my excuse I read all the books and now consider myself a Fanwing! Recently I started coming up with my WoF OCs, so here's my first one!

Base was made by IceOfWaterflock on DeviantArt. As per their request for when other people use the art, it's titled "MS Paint Base-Skywing" and they make other bases like this for the other tribes.
And here he is in a different pose (don't know the real creator, but it's a "wings of fire coloring page"). I'm using this on the cover of the fanfiction I'll be writing:

Avadavat's name is the same as a red "perching bird" (birds that have a specific talon structure to perch easier) that has white spots on their dark wings (my inspiration for the appearance).
Using Pixlr E I picked colors from a picture of an avadavat (the bird) to create the color pallette. A few hours of picking, outlining, filling, and refining later, (stretched out across about two weeks) this was done!
So now I'm going to type all about this character in the format of an OC Rater submission form, that way all of the necessary information about the character is there (and if I wanted to I could copy+paste this if I submit it to a reviewer). I looked at multiple Wings of Fire OC Raters and tried to include as much information as possible. You can pick and choose what you review (you might not care about the name meaning, for example). If you want to review/rate this OC, consider this the form:

Appearance: (see above) Burgundy with an orange underbelly and orangish-brown horns. Talons are a grayish-pink while the wingclaws (wingtips?) are blood-red. Wings are a dark crimson with clusters of cream-colored (with a tint of pink) spots. Has a white stripe under his candy-apple-red eyes. Is a bit taller and slightly leaner than the average Skywing.
Family: Mother-Spinel, no siblings, father unknown (breeding program) Birthtime: A few years into the War of Sandwing Succession Age: Unsure exactly how dragon years work (either 1 dragon year=2 human years or 1 dragon year to 3 human years). Suffice it to say, he's been an adult for a few years now, so I'll go 26 in human years.

Residence: Possibility, in a dwelling shared with Calypte and Dawnriser near the bridge on the Skywing side
Strengths: Very educated and logical and has well developed opinions that are only easily influenced by new knowledge. Since he only has a few friends, all of them have a special place in his heart, and he always has something physical to show their relationship with them. He also wants what is best for his friends. Flaws: Can be bossy and narcissistic about his opinions but was raised to be a leader. He doesn't interact with many dragons and can be quite untrusting. When someone makes him curious he ignores that first barrier really easily, though he won't open up fully to them until after about a year or so.
Fears: Death, Insanity, Loss, The Unknown
Likes: Knowledge, Beef, Corn, Mint, Solitude, Innovations, His close friends Dislikes: The Unknown, Hostile dragons, Those who don't like animus dragons, Rumors, overpowered and corrupt dragons
Hobbies: He likes to color pieces of cotton fabric and use leather to make bags, pouches, and fashionable tailbands, headbands, and bandanas. Occupation: Sewist (combination of the words "sew" and "artist", couldn't find a better word)/Jeweler, makes, customizes, and sells accessories (pretty low-key in Possibility, not well-known and only has passing customers. He has a small stand a mile away from his dwelling. At least he's putting food on the table and living a modest living).
Special Powers: Animus
Backstory: Spinel suspected that Avadavat would hatch an animus (her other two dragonets would've) and didn't want another one of her eggs to die just because he was special. As soon as Spinel realized she was carrying another egg, she went into isolation and found a new home in a gorge. She raised Avadavat until adulthood, teaching him all about the dragon tribes (their appearances, features, abilities, and customs). Spinel showed him the tribes' histories and whether their actions were unjust. Through this Avadavat developed opinions about how a proper kingdom should be run. He was also well educated about animus magic, both how it works and how the other tribes used it. Avadavat learned that he was the only one of his tribe who was an animus since the other Skywings tended to kill animus dragons once found, and that using his magic too much (especially for evil) will cause insanity. Armed with fully fledged opinions and determined to make a difference for the better, he asked Spinel if he could go into normal Pyrrhian society. Though Spinel wanted to protect her child, she was sure that Avadavat was peaceful enough that he could survive. Just to be safe, she requested Avadavat to only use his magic when someone's in great danger with no other solution, to not show his animus magic to many people at a time, and to live in the town of Possibility since the citizens do not seek violence and would be peaceful with him as long as he is peaceful to them. Avadavat agreed to these requests and, now a full grown adult Skywing, left the safety of the gorge: where he hatched, said his first words, learned to fly, enchanted his first object, learned how to hunt, trained to defend himself, and made a lot of fun memories with his mom. After a tearful goodbye to Spinel, Avadavat flew toward the Great Five-Tail River and arrived at Possibility. He came in humbly and settled in nicely near the Skywing side of the bridge. He has lived there since, joined by Calypte and Dawnriser.
TL:DR of Backstory: Since Avadavat was an animus his mother went into isolation to raise him so that he wouldn't be killed. Spinel made sure to educate Avadavat about everything there is to know about Pyrrhia and its tribes and histories. Once he was able to hold his own and became an adult, Avadavat wanted to go into normal Pyrrhian society. Spinel didn't really want this to be the case, but since he was an adult and was "raised right" she decided it would be okay. To be on the safe side, she asked Avadavat to not show his animus gift at most costs and to live in Possibilility. Avadavat agreed and now lives in Possibility, joined by his girlfriend (basically mates at this point) Calypte and his friend Dawnriser.
I'm really proud of this dragon and I'm hoping to create more OCs! Ta-ta for now!
