~Rira's POV~
The 287th Hunter exam is about to take place and Safairah can't help but be anxious about it. She heard a lot of terrifying stories about how some unfortunate examinees ended up injured, hysterical, or mostly dead after participating on the exams.
I really don't want to go... I heard her thought to herself followed by thinking of many reasons why she can't go.
Quit it coward! How long are you planning to worry about the Hunter exams? Tch. You're getting into my nerves! Scolded another voice inside her.
I'm sorry it's just that I-
Don't worry Aira... I interrupted. You're strong, you can do it.
I've been watching her for so long that I already know her that much. I'm aware of how important the hunter licence is for her and I knew that from the 1st time we learned about the perks of being a hunter, she already decided to join.
She took in a deep breath and sighed. She know that there's no way she can argue anymore since being a hunter is really necessary and her wavering is pointless. She tried to relax and shove all the ugly pictures of worse case scenarios in her mind.
Aira's mind is not hazy. It is in fact a sensible one, unlike someone I knew that has a clouded and unsteady mind.
But along with the intelligence she poses, is a mentality that overthinks. Most of the time, it is so loud that I'd rather walk into the "other room", some place deep inside her mind that would allow me to not hear what she have to think.
Don't get me wrong. I get why she tend to think too much.. It's not like I didn't do it myself. Mine could be even louder, banging with questions and hypothesis.
Good thing I'm the one who's inside her brain and not the other way around. Because mine could be a total chaos.. Too much knowledge, I decided, is like a burden to a soul. Which made me conclude that I could have a soul after all...
Aira reached for her satchel on the chair beside her, placed an amount of Jenny on the table and started leaving the eatery. Her short break from traveling is over and she need to get out of this town fast.
It's already dark outside as she left the place. I'm aware of the slight quiver she felt because this town she's in is a viscous one. Knowing her, she wouldn't dare to stay here for a night. She thought of hurrying to the next city as soon as possible.
She walked cautiously mostly looking down not wanting to draw attention from the hoodlums around.
Until....
"L-let go of me, please!" begged a little girl's voice somewhere on the dark alley she's passing through.
She paused walking without intending to and her eyes started to roam around in search for a girl who must be in danger.
She wanted to continue walking but... It's a little girl who's in danger.
"I'll ask you for the last time..." it's a ragged high pitch voice this time and now she's sure where they're coming from.
"...where-is-my-dagger?"
She slowly walked towards the corner of the street where the voices are coming from and peeked behind a post. It really is a little girl with a long dark hair and gathered around her are mostly buff men.
She cringed in repulsion witnessing a mob of filthy looking men ganging up on a little girl. But she felt even more afraid realizing how scary these men looked.
"Ye heard him kid. Boss is not patient with brats. Blurt it out before he kills ya."
Aira panicked as she heard their threat to kill. So she gathered all her courage, took in a deep breath and spoke in a voice pitched higher than she intended.
"T-there you are!"
The gang including the girl turned their heads to her direction. Cold sweat started to cover her.
"You are that girl aren't you? The daughter of that bounty hunter earlier on the plaza?" she tried her best not to stutter anymore.
"T-that bounty hunter?" she heard one whisper.
The little girl flashed an innocent smile. "Daddy?"
"Yes! I just saw him. He's been looking for you." She immediately answered.
The gang members mumbled to each other and the one who has been gripping the girl hissed a curse before letting her go.
Aira felt slightly relieved seeing the girl run towards her. But I could sense that something's off about the girl she's trying to save.
"Thanks for looking for me onee-chan!" The girl took her hand and placed an ethnic looking dagger on it. "Here's a rare dagger for you."
Her jaw dropped as the little girl chucked before running away fast.
"Wha-? Wait!!!" she called out but the girl's incredibly fast.
She immediately heard footsteps and low chuckling sounds. The hoodlums are now getting near her.
"So you're the one behind it." The one they call boss uttered in an eerie high pitched voice.
"N-no... It's not like what you think." She stammered while stepping back.
"Get her!" ordered the gang leader.
She dropped the dagger and started running for her life.
Seems like you've got us into trouble again. Taunts a voice inside her.
"I was just trying to help!" she managed to shout while continued running like there's no tomorrow. The faint light that the crescent moon provided is not helping her to see the path clearly.
She's been bumping to strangers but she kept on running until she turned to a dark alley and tripped into something.
"Ugh." She struggled to stand up. The long dress she's wearing is hindering her from standing fast.
You have no choice but to fight them. I suggested even if I know that she never really liked fighting.
It only took seconds and the filthy looking men are already surrounding her. She's trapped.
"You've been a pain in the ass."said the gang leader wearing a sinister smile.

~Killu's POV~
I'm still searching for Alluka. That little brother of mine must've done something silly again. I was just paying at the counter when I realized he went missing once again. The last time was when I brought him to the amusement park and now he's doing it again.
I turned and to go back to where I last saw him when...
SFX: Thud!
A blue haired girl who smelled like sea breeze bumped into me that I almost loose balance.
"Oi!" I called out but she didn't stop running. After her was a group of thugs.
"Oh, nevermind." I shrugged and continued searching for Alluka.
