XIV. Lurking Within

~Aira's POV~

"Yay! We made it just in time!" I exclaimed as soon as we arrive at the bottom of the tower. I was so ecstatic that I yanked a giggling Gon into an embrace while I giggle just the same.

He must be taken by surprise from my sudden action because he stiffened at the contact while laughing awkwardly. I distanced from him embarrassed of what I just did. I bowed down as heat came up my face. "G-gomen"

"Ha, ha no it's uhh, fine Sarah-chan. It was just unexpected." He assured giving me a hesitant smile.

What was I thinking? Yes I'm a hugger, but more of an animal hugger while Gon is... Wait, it's okay to hug a friend right? Why am I feeling all embarrassed? I opened my mouth to reply but Leo san who's ahead us, turned around to face us.

"That was a close one though. I really thought we won't be able to make it." Leo-san uttered half-smiling.

"I agree, but thanks to Gon here." Kurapi-nii responded, addressing Gon's idea to use the weapons to break the wall that separates us to where the fast and easy way is.

"Yeah, who would thought you'd come up with such an idea?" Killua-kun coolly muttered, while checking for any damage on his skateboard.

"I just remembered how the juries we faced on the battles were able to break the walls and floors, so I thought we could also break it using those tools." Gon retorted, pointing his index finger up.

I looked sideways when my eyes caught Mr.Ziegmund as he start to walk away. He gestured a two finger salute while giving me a malicious smile. He's kinda creepy. He doesn't talk that much and I didn't even saw him eat during trick tower.

"Congratulations! You arrived at the bottom just before the time limit." A spiky haired short man, with huge round glasses spoke.

"I'm Lippo and I'm also in-charge to take you to the 4th phase of the exam." So he's Lippo-san, the one who's been talking on the speakers all over the tower.

He had an assistant named Kara and she made each of us draw a card from the box she's holding.

"Now these cards have numbers that represent the ID no. of your target for the exam's 4th phase, which will be held on Zevil Island." she informed gesturing towards a distant island ahead.

Next thing we know is that were boarding a ship that will take us to Zevil Island.

~Killu's POV~

I wandered around the ship trying to figure out which of these bastards own this card no. 199 but most of these wimps immediately hid theirs just right after we drawn the cards.

I disappointedly clicked my tongue. Geez people, grow some balls..

I gave up looking around and went to Gon whose hanging his arms against a railing of the ship, slumping towards the sea..

"Oi Gon." I called, walking towards him.

He turned his head at my direction. "Killua." He acknowledged in a faint smile.

"Zup?" I asked stopping beside him. "Did you find out who your target is?"

He remained silent for a while then grinned. "Yes."

"Really? Who?" I leaned closer probing.

He just looked back at me in a serious stare. We held that serious gaze for maybe 3 seconds before we both found ourselves laughing.

"Alright." He resigned and held his card up. "Let's show each other's on three."

"Kay." I nodded. "One."
