IX. The Assasin

~Rira's POV~

The second phase of the exam was conducted by the two gourmet hunters Menchi and Buhara. Their given exam is simple. Cook their orders deliciously.

Buhara's order was not much of a challenge for Aira because she's been sneaking into the forest behind the palace that catching a rare pig, no matter how wild it is, wouldn't be a problem.

Besides, he could just eat the roasted pig without complaining on how it was cooked, rare or almost burned, he ate it all. That's why everyone passed his test.

Menchi's order, sushi, on the other hand, was a huge obstacle to everyone aside from Aira. She can cook almost everything so making an exceptional tasting sushi isn't hard for her. Everyone but Aira, failed this test.

Because of that many examinees complained, one even tried to attack Menchi. 

Later, President Netero conviced Menchi to give them another exam and everyone passed this time.

Its almost 9 in the evening and they're currently on a huge blimp that would bring them to another location.

"We should arrive tomorrow at around 8 on the next trial ground." The small man with a potato shaped head informed. "We are waiting for them to contact us, you are free to do whatever until we arrive.

"Hey Gon! How about we take a tour around the vessel?" Killua faced Gon with such enthusiasm.

"Sounds great!" Gon chirped equalling his energy before turning to Aira. "Lets go Sarah-chan!"

She was hesistant as she looked at the apathetic look on Killua's face. If there's a reason why she's bothered during the previous phase of the exam, it would only be because of him who didn't even try hiding his hostility towards her.

She knew Aki once tried to kill him. She was awakened at that very moment Aki was about to give him a fatal and direct attack.

That night, the goons that went after her mercilessly stabbed her with an unusual knife. It's not like any other normal knife because it sucked some of Aira's strength.

That knife has Élan on it - a kind of power that Armanian Sorcerers produce from their inner vitality. Because of that, Aira ended up unconscious. Even her presence was weakened after that incident.

Aki probably hadn't noticed it yet but I'm sure Aira's strong hold on this body was not like the way it was before. It noticed it because for the first time, Aira saw through Aki's eyes.

How this body was shared has some sort of rule:

The main user must be turned off before the other can be turned on, just like how emergency lights work during black-outs on villages.

But once Aira, the main body, became conscious - Aki, no matter what she's doing, will lose grip of the body.

But that night, it wasn't the case.

On that moment, Aira struggled for consciousness and just weakly voiced out Aki's name and the later dropped the staggering boy then jumped away, not showing any hint on what really caused her to stop.

Was it Killua asking for her identity or Aira calling out for her name? It's been a mystery really, how human beings can be beyond my knowledge to completely comprehend.

"Oi! You heard him." Killua irked that caused Aira to almost jump. He turned around, his head looking sideways towards Gon. "Let's go Gon." then started walking, while both his hands clung against the back of his head.
