The group walked with the foresight of the danger. With every step they took forward, the noise grew louder. When the sound seemed deafening, they stood beside a semi-truck with the back doors opened. The metal fluttered against the trailer's side in the breeze. They parted on each side of the truck then cautiously approached the back with weapons ready for the worst to come. One soldier climbed up the cab and cleared it. The group looked behind and below the trailer. They finally made it at the back of the semi-truck as the distinct sound of liquid hitting the floor. Joseph froze in his tracks.
"Oh my god," whispered Joseph.
"That is a site," remarked David.
"Ever seen anything like this?" asked Joseph.
"No. Why did they skin them?" questioned David.
"Maybe dominance," answered Joseph.
They all stared mesmerized by the grotesque sight. There were bloody clothes tossed farther inside the trailer and no sign of their skin. Also, they were missing parts of their body.
Joseph finally questioned, "Why did they take their genitals and eyeballs?"
"Like you said dominance. I don't think we should explore the bodies farther," stated David.
"I hope we don't come across this kind of scene again," said Joseph.
"We need caution on how we tell our people," conveyed David.
"You're right," said Joseph.
"These are armed forces. With the number of vehicles, there should be more bodies," declared David.
"Aidan. I need you to go away from the crowd," commanded Joseph.
"Alright," replied Aidan.
After Aidan walked away from the crowd of people that stood around the vehicles, then he said, "I'm all clear."
"We found dismembered, mutilated bodies in the back of a truck. We need our people to be watchful," commented Joseph.
"We should watch how we tell them?" asked Aidan.
"Yes. They were soldiers. They skinned them and tore their genitals off. It's a bloodbath," answered Joseph.
"Wow. Never thought I would hear about this kind of carnage," stated Aidan.
"I didn't think I would see such a grotesque scene," expressed Joseph.
"I have a bad feeling there will be more in our future," related Aidan.
"He's right. There will be portions in our journey that will be hell on earth," declared David.
"You all need to stay close by. No leaving on your own," ordered Aidan so his group could hear.
Meanwhile, inside the travel plaza, the pairs split up one group for the kitchen and the other into the trucker's area.
"Watch yourself," ordered Amber.
"I got your back," remarked Zachary.
As Amber opened the door that led inside the lounge, she turned then said, "That isn't what I meant. You need to watch yourself also."
"I know what you mean. You run the show, so you're more important than me," commented Zach.
"Zach. Every life matters," remarked Amber.
"Even the bad ones?" asked Zach.
"I haven't killed Shirley and Robert yet," answered Amber.
"That wasn't right," snickered Zachary.
