As the seconds ticked by, Amber stood frozen in her own spell until the words broke through the veil of apprehension. The hope Amber had was correct. The voice was real and wasn't a dream. She turned in a few seconds, but it felt like a century.

"Snap out of it, Amber. We should flee from here," ordered Adam.

Immediately Adam was in front of Amber on his knees. He positioned her pants. Adam hurried as Amber collapsed toward his arms. Instinctively her head fell against his warm, inviting chest. Adam's arms engulfed Amber as he stabilized her. Without hesitation, Adam picked Amber up and ran for their vehicles.

"Move your asses," ordered Adam when he got close enough for them to hear.

"Adam. Is it really you?" whispered Amber.

"Yes. I got you. It's over," reassured Adam.

"Thank you. The things I did. I was willing to do it. The things Z said and would do," revealed Amber.

After Adam placed Amber's feet on the ground by their truck, he asked, "Are you better?"

"Yes. Thank you, Adam," answered Amber even though a few tears ran down her cheeks.

"I like your coat opened, but you might not," stated Adam as his eyes fell upon Amber's round full heaving mounds.

"You're right," said Amber.

Afterward, Amber positioned her fingers on the coat. She was unable to zip it up. Amber's hands shook too much for her to even lift the zipper. Without hesitation, Adam pulled the jacket together and zipped it.

"You're a sight for sore eyes," conveyed Amber with tears in her eyes.

"I'm glad I found you," remarked Adam.

"Let's go," commented Amber.

"Aidan! Move your ass! We're leaving!" bellowed Adam.

"I'm coming! Start the truck!" yelled Aidan.

They both jumped in the truck. Immediately the engine started it up. The wheels of the vehicle rolled forward, slowly allowing Aidan to catch up.

When Aidan was in the bed of the truck, he screamed, "Go faster! The big zombie is catching up!"

"Will the other guy make it?" asked Amber.

"I don't know he's gaining on us quick," answered Adam.

As the vehicles accelerated, Z ran faster. He caught up with the second SUV. Instantaneously Z jerked the door open with enough force to bend it forward. Immediately he pulled the man from the still-moving vehicle. After the man was tossed toward the zombies, they pounced on him.

Z searched the SUV. While his zombies tore the clothes from the young man's body. They clawed and ate on the male's flesh. As the three of them pulled away from the carnage, they heard the man's screams. The eerie sound pierced the silent night air.

Z rummaged through the SUV with urgency. Directly after, he searched the remains of the man's clothes. Immediately an ear-piercing howl rang throughout the deadly night sky. Straightway, Z ran after them as their distance grew further apart.

"Oh no," murmured Amber.

"What's wrong?" asked Adam.

"He's catching up because of how fast he is," answered Amber as she kept glancing in the mirrors than at Adam and Aidan.

"What did you do?" questioned Aidan through the small back window.

"I didn't do anything," replied Amber.

"He likes her pussy," responded Adam.

"Adam. You're wrong," remarked Amber.

"Look what you did to me," stated Adam.

"Whatever you smart-ass. Move over so Aidan can get up here," expressed Amber.

"Dang he's faster than Adam," revealed Aidan.

"He's a 1st generation zombie. He's the beginning of the end," reported Adam.

After his words, Adam opened the door for Aidan. In a moment, he slipped a leg over the truck bed. The leg wrapped around the door jam. Quickly Adam grabbed Aidan's forearm when he started falling from the truck. The ground flew by as one of Aidan's feet hit the blacktop. With Adam's strength, Aidan was inside the vehicle without any injury.

"How did you get away?" probed Aidan.

"It was luck, hormones, and Adam. Honestly, I didn't think I would be back," answered Amber.

"I'm glad I saw them with Alex. I saw him with you afterward," conveyed Adam.

"Yes. Alex is the reason we came back. I was going to trade her for Shirley," revealed Amber.

"I'm glad you decided that," declared Aidan.

"I wanted to save Alex at any cost. Even if that was me," announced Amber.

"Adam had good timing," said Aidan.

"Yes," verbalized Amber as her hand rested on Adam's leg.

A thud on the side of the truck brought all back to the realization of their dire situation.

"He's strong," expressed Aidan as the truck wavered under the repeated abuse.

"You should be glad he didn't get away with his plan," related Amber with a quick sideways glance.

"What plan?" asked Adam.

"Z wanted all the women. He would use the lower zombies to outnumber you. He would kill whoever was in his way of getting the prize," reported Amber as her foot pressed the gas pedal.

Soon they increased their distance from Z and his horde.

"Sly fox, he is," said Aidan.

"Yes. Z is very smart. Dangerously smart," commented Amber.

"If he's stronger and faster, how did you get Amber away?" questioned Aidan.

"What Amber said some luck and hormones. He was fucking her. I took advantage of the situation," remarked Adam.

As Aidan's laughter escaped him along with a smile, then he said, "Caught him with his pants down. In more ways than one. You called him Z. Is that his name?"

"That's what he had me call him. He said his name would be too hard for me to pronounce," whispered Amber.

Without delay, Amber's mind went back to that moment in time. She felt and smelled his breath as he told her, 'You're mine and will never be with another man. You leave my side, I will hunt you down to the ends of the Earth.' A shiver rained throughout Amber's body as she thought about Z's words of warning.

"Are you okay?" asked Adam.

As soon as Amber heard Adam's words, her foot stomped down on the brakes. The truck came to a screeching halt.

"No. I will be, though. Aidan. Take over driving," uttered Amber.

Aidan departed the truck as Amber pushed Adam over. She sat on Adam's lap and leaned her forehead against his neck.

"Hold me. I want to feel and smell you. I can't have his touch and smell on me anymore," requested Amber.

"When you wake, I'll be here. I won't leave you," whispered Adam in Amber's ear.

Soon Amber's eyes stayed closed while a dreadful restless sleep came to her. Adam comforted her as they drove further away from the horde.

"What now?" questioned the alpha as he walked up beside Z.

"Round up the rest. We go after Amber," responded Z.

"Yes... My lord...," said the alpha.

Another alpha walked up and said, "I understand... She smells good..."

"Yes. She'll be mine again," stated Z.

Soon the horde walked where Amber's vehicle had disappeared into the horizon.
