A small movement next to me causes me to sleepily open my eyes, eyelids heavy with slumber. The first thing I notice is the comfortable warmth that engulfs me, and I unconsciously nuzzle closer to the warm figure next to me, hugging myself closer to his chest and burying my face in his neck to enjoy the feeling of comfort for a little longer. Relishing the feeling of safety, I close my eyes again and sigh happily.

A soft, breathy chuckle rustles my hair a little, and I only notice the pair of arms around me when they hug me tighter.

"Morning, Sungie," a raspy voice mumbles, and a smile crosses my face as I realize the situation I'm in.

Full of aversion, I remove myself from Minho's embrace, just to take a look at his face. And the sight is absolutely endearing. I find the older boy looking at me, his soft brown eyes heavy-lidded and hooded with sleep. Tufts of fluffy black hair stick into every direction, and he has the sweetest smile playing on his lips.

"Hey, Minho," I reply, returning his smile and reaching out to brush a few loose strands of hair away from his forehead. "Did you sleep well?"

"Better than I slept in years," the older sighs, closing his eyes and leaning into my touch as I slowly rake my fingers through his hair, gently untangling the strands.

A soft chuckle falls off my lips. "You're such a cat, Min. I'm definitely going to make you wear those cat ears online."

"Shut up," the raven-haired mumbles. "Can't I just enjoy your affection without being teased?"

I say nothing, smiling softly as I watch how Minho slowly falls back into slumber again as I massage his scalp. Everything about this morning is so peaceful and natural, it's as if nothing ever happened between us. One conversation was enough to go back to how things were; that has to mean something, right?

Suddenly, there's a loud bang on the door, and both Minho and I jolt up in surprise, a small shriek escaping my throat. We hear a chuckle coming from the other side, and the older sighs in dismay.

"Time to get up, lovebirds," we hear Chan's voice say, sounding suspiciously cheerful. "I don't know about Jisung, but we have a class to attend at eleven."

"Yeah, me too," I reply quietly, completely inaudible for the oldest.

"Give us a minute," Minho grumbles, glaring at the door, obviously not happy about the disturbance.

"Breakfast is in five!" the Australian announces, followed by the sounds of footsteps walking away.

"I guess that's the end of our peaceful morning together," the raven-haired sighs, rubbing the last remnants of sleep from his eyes before throwing the covers off our bodies. "Let's go, Chan hyung is scary when you miss breakfast. Kinda triggers his beast mom mode."

"What? You only tell me that now?" I pout, swinging my legs over the edge of the bed. "I didn't sign up for a scary mother-in-law."

Minho merely chuckles as I walk over to my pile of clothes and grab my jeans. They would have to do for another day.

"Oh, don't worry," he states, getting up as well. "Your real mother-in-law is a sweetheart."

I look at Minho quizzically, and he gives me a wink that causes my cheeks to flush red. With him, it's a mystery where the jokes ends and the seriousness begins. More than once, it ends up as a hazard for my poor heart.

"I'll change in the bathroom," the boy announces, a fresh set of clothes in his hands. "Just come to the kitchen when you're done, okay? It's next to the living room."

I nod, and Minho leaves his bedroom. I quickly slip out of the sweatpants and t-shirt he lend me, and switch into my clothes for the day. A hard object in my pocket suddenly makes me realize a grave mistake, and a feeling of guilt washes over me as I take out my phone.
