"Lino, run!"
With a groan, I push myself off the dusty ground after being thrown there harshly, watching how Minho circles around a giant lizard man, trying his best to avoid its strong tail that's capable of crushing all his life points with one hit.
It's weekend, Saturday afternoon to be precise. We decided that it was a good time for a fun guild activity, and we settled on raiding a dungeon near the place where Minho and I fought the Shadow Stalker together. Same gloomy atmosphere, same goosebumps that ran over my skin as soon as we got here, and probably a much worse outcome.
Lizard boy is strong, and so are its tiny monster friends.
So far, so good. No one has died so far, not yet, at least. Everyone manages to stand their ground well, even Felix and Seungmin, who have significantly lower levels than the rest of our guild.
The four others are trying to hold off the huge pile of smaller reptile monsters while Minho and I fight the boss together. Seems like an unfair distribution, but three people wasn't enough to take on the huge reptile swarm that surround the boss. Of course, my boyfriend had to point out how good of a team we are so here we are, taking on a freaking monster with five health bars together.
We're doomed.
The lizard is spinning around rapidly, its tail chasing Minho in order to land the final blow. The boy is fast, but not fast enough to outrun his doom much longer. He looks at me desperately a few times and I fully get to my feet this time, grabbing my sword that landed a few feet away.
I'm not sure how much of a help I can be. Minho is an excellent fighter, landing blow after blow, while I'm too occupied with avoiding attacks to fight the monster. I would've done much better if they let me fight off the swarm of smaller monsters, and I hope I get to switch with Chan sooner or later.
The pit is only illumimated dimly, the light of the torches setting the green scales of the lizard beast to shimmer. It's the sharp red eyes that pierce through the darkness forcefully, two pairs glaring at every movement before swinging its heavy tail.
Minho appears next to me, panting heavily and glowing cuts littering his body. He looks at the monster with a venomous determination in his eyes. His health bar is fine, but his energy stats worry me. He's been giving his all from the start, attacking the monster with what seems like reckless and relentless force. He abandoned his usual cool and collected battle style, no calculated movements but a wildfire instead.
"Min, need to switch?" I ask, shivering as the lizard roars loudly before charging at us.
"Babe, you and I both know that you wouldn't last a minute without me," Minho replies, giving me a quick teasing smile that turns serious immediately. "Let's go."
I reply with a quick nod, ignoring the unnecessary remark –that's probably true– and following my boyfriend as he dashes off, ready to get rid of the second health bar.
Every movement sets clouds of dust and sand to whirl around the pit, pricking our eyes and obscuring our vision. The circumstances of this fight aren't in our favor and I'm honestly this close to giving up and accepting our loss. This battle is tiring me out a lot, with all the running and jumping and dodging while it's hard to see what's going on around me.
"Now!" I hear Minho yell, and though I have no idea what he means, I jump forward and succesfully bury my sword deep inside the first thing it reaches, the lizard man's shoulder in this case.
A deafening screech bounces off the stone walls and a clawed fist lands in my stomach, sending me airborne. Upon colliding with the ground for the third time already, all the air is knocked out of my lungs and I grunt softly. My health points are suddenly decreasing rapidly and my erergy bar is so low that health regeneration does nothing anymore.
