Boris wanted to come with us because he said he wanted to come for the ride. In the car, I tried to close my eyes in the car and think of him to see if he was telling the truth. But when I closed my eyes I saw something I wish I didn't. I saw his father hit him. And when I saw that I felt really bad. I took off the blindfold because I didn't want to see what would happen next.
"Eddie, can you hand me a tissue? My nose is running."
"Why would you just assume I have one?" He said handing me a napkin.
We all giggled.
"Yeah me too." Beverly said wiping her nose.
"Oh shit my nose is bleeding." I said under breathe
"mine too..."
"Hey, you think it's a side affect? You know to the mind shit." Mike asked looking at us both.
"Yeah, I saw your nose sorta bleeding when you try and find Georgie. Maybe now your powers have grown." Ben suggested.
"Yeah maybe."
Boris was staring at us all in awe.
"I'm sorry, superpowers?"
"Oh fuck, yeah her and Beverly have powers sorry, forgot to tell you." Richie said calmly.
"Oh no, it's okay. I won't remember any of this anyways... I'm...pretty high." We all had that awkward creased smile that you give creepy neighbors who wave at you, trying to pretend he didn't just say that.
The rest of the ride consisted of Boris flirting with me and Bev as we tried finding out more about where Georgie is, Eddie hyperventilating in the tight space, Ben trying to calm him down, Mike looking out the window at all the birds with Stanley, Bill trying to listen to us talk about his brother's surroundings and giving us tissues, and Richie telling me to stop before I get brain damage while he drove.
Bill mostly listened to Beverly and I was sorta doing my own thing most of the time, like reading magazines I found in the glove compartment or listening to music. But something clicked in my head. I remember we are driving to my parents too. So I closed my eyes and thought about them.
They were hovering over someone. The person was crying. I looked over and the person was a child. My parents were hurting a child. I started to cry. I felt the salty tears stream down my face when a familiar voice spoke to me.
"Y/n? Are you alright?" It was only Richie. I must have been crying for real too.
"Yes. I'm okay."
The little girl just kept screaming as my parents tied her up. I opened my red, puffy eyes. "No. Enough. I can't watch..." Everyone stopped at looked at me. "W-what are t-t-talking about?" Bill asked in a concerned tone. Everything went quiet except for the faint insurance commercial on the radio.
"Well good news were here!" Richie shouted awkwardly. It was dark and pouring by the time we got to Hawkins, but Boris decided that we've taken him far enough. At first, he didn't tell us
jack-shit about him wanting to get to new york, he said he just wanted to go for a ride.
So before we stopped at a gas station to let him get out, he said, "Thanks for the ride but I wanted to get closer to New York. Eh, I'll get there someday right?"
Those were his last words before he blew a kiss to Beverly and me and closed the door. We both cringed at the sight. Even though it looked like my boyfriend, he was a weird perverted version which made it gross.
We all felt a little guilty since we took him farther from his destination but glad he was ok with it. I don't know...he is a Drug filled, Ukrainian Richie, maybe he was better walking off then getting punched by his American twin for flirting a little too much, I could tell he was planning on doing so anyway.
We took a break for driving since we didn't really know where we were going and stopped at a drive-in movie theater. Everyone was in the car except me and Beverly. It was only 12:00 pm but it must have felt like he's been up for ages driving us around.
"So...the the only person we are looking for is Georgie. Wanna try the real reason we came here?" Beverly asked me softly, smoking her cigarette.
"You mean my parents?"
"Yeah of course."
"Okay. I'll try." I said opening the car door and grabbing the blindfolds and tissues.
"Hey don't you think it's a little weird?" I asked sitting on the pavement next to the old yellow vehicle.
"What is?"
"You know, that we found a Richie number 2?" Beverly giggled.
"Ha, I love the way you say that." Beverly laughed. "I guess it's a little strange but it would even weirder if we saw three Richie's on his trip, but you know it's not the weirdest thing on the trip don't you think?"
"I suppose." I said as we put on the blindfolds.
I can't see anything its all blank. No wait I do see someone. She has messy, short, brown hair about shoulder length and is wearing an oversized, purple, faded flannel with white jeans. Wait can she see me? I think she can. I'm going to walk closer to get a better look. She definitely sees me and is walking closer too. She looks just as confused as me and just as skeptical. We are standing inches away from each other just observing.
I looked down seeing a small tattoo on her left arm slightly covered by a blue hair tie. Does she have a tattoo?! That's awesome!
I finally asked her, "who are you? And how do you see me? When I do this people don't see me."
"People aren't supposed to see me either. I'm El. Who are you?"
"Uhh I'm y/n, wait did you say you could do this too you know when you use your powers. You have the power too?"
"Of course. I thought I was the only one!"
"You're definitely not the only one, my friend Beverly and I are doing it right now in a drive-in movie theater in Indiana."
"Indiana? That's where I live! Hey, how about you and your friend come to the Starcourt Mall today. I'm at my friend Max's house right now and we were planning on going to the Starcourt Mall in about 30 minutes." El said. "If you want we can meet you there. I've never been so."
"Sure, a few of my other friends are gonna come and my boyfriend Richie."
"Ok I'll see you then I guess." El said, just before disappearing. "Bye," I said, taking off the blindfold.
When I opened my eyes the whole group was sitting around me like I was telling a campfire story.
"AHH! Jesus, don't you guys know how to knock? How long have you been there?"
"Did you just have a conversation with someone. While you were in your visions?!" Ben asked slightly raising his voice in confusion.
"Oh yeah, we are meeting her at Starcourt Mall in about 30." They all looked at me as if I was crazy. "Did you say you would meet up with a complete stranger who has superpowers in a Mall?" Stanley asked me. I ignored the stupid question and got up and walked towards the car grabbing Beverly's hand.
"Ok come on guys. Let's go!" I said pulling Beverly into the car with the boys following us close behind.
