We stopped at a house.

"Is this it?" Max asks El, stopping by the mailbox. El nods and we walk up to the front door. We tried knocking but there was no answer.

"It's okay El. You've done a lot today. I'll do it." Beverly said to her. Beverly unlocked the door and it slowly opened itself. We walked inside, dripping water as we took each step. The sound of light string music was heard from the background. We turned to the hallway, noticing family photos hung up.

"This is her house." I say to the girls.

"What?" El whispered.

"Heather's house." We jumped at the sound of a woman's laugh come from the dining room. We walked towards the continued laugh now hearing more people talking. We stood there, looking at a woman with a pink dress, a man with a suit and a man with a baby blue shirt all stop talking and look at us.

"Max." The man in blue said.

"We didn't mean to...barge in." Max explained. " we tried to knock, but... Maybe you didn't hear us over the storm."

"I'm sorry, who is this dripping all over my living room right now?" The suited man asked I'm guessing Max's brother. Billy chuckles.

"I'm sorry. Janet, Tom, this...is my sister, Maxine."

"Oh!" The woman said happily. Oh my bad. Janet.

"What on earth are you doing here?" Billy asked as he walked toward us. "Is something wrong?" He said smiling at me.

"We just wanted to make sure everything was okay." Max told him.

"Okay?" He said now looking at Beverly. " why wouldn't it be okay?"

"Where is she?" El asked impatiently. Billy looked at her like she wasn't human. Like she was an object.

"I'm sorry. Where is who?" Billy was soon cut off by a girl walking in with a cookie tray.

"Well, they're a little burnt, I'm sorry-" She said smiling. Her smile soon faded when seeing us.

"Heather! This is my sister, Maxine." He then looked at El, Beverly, and I. "And I'm sorry I did not quite catch your name."

"That's none of your business." I tell him sternly.

"El."

"El." Billy repeated. " now, what is it you were saying, El? You were looking for somebody?" We all looked at Heather then back at Billy.

"I--I saw... I saw you-" El tried saying.

"Your manger. At the pool." Beverly said over El. "He said you guys didn't come into work today, so we got worried."

"Heather wasn't feeling so hot today, so we thought we take the day off to nurse her back to health." Billy explained. "But you're feeling just fine right now, aren't you, Heather?"

"I'm feeling so much better!" Heather said Overly joyed. " you girls want a cookie? They're fresh out of the oven."

"No." I tell her grabbing Beverly's hand. "We need to get going now." I said walking out the door.

"Here." Billy said opening the door.

"Thanks." I said quickly walking out and grabbing the skateboard along with Beverly as El and Max got on her bike.

There was something wrong with her. I know it. But she was fine. We saw her. We all saw her. Right?
