We went over to Max's house for a sleepover, trusting the boys will stay at Mike's.
"Which one?" Max asked El when she came back from brushing her teeth. She was holding up two comic books. One was green lantern and the other was Wonder Woman.
"I don't know." El said softly as she pulled back the covers.
" Hey, there's nothing to worry about anymore, okay?" I reassure her.
El sighed. "It doesn't make sense."
"What doesn't make sense?"
"Heather. The blood. The ice."
"Heather had, a fever, so she took a cold bath, but she's better now." Beverly told her.
" that has to be it. I don't know where that blood came from, but... We saw her. We all saw her. She's totally fine." Max said.
"What about Billy?"
"What about him?"
"He seemed wrong."
Max chuckled. "Wrong is kind of like his default. But it's nice to know he's on a murderer, cuz that would have totally sucked." We all smiled.
"Who is that?"El asked, looked at one of the comics. She pointed to Wonder Woman. Beverly and I looked at each other in disbelief.
"See this is why can't just hang out with Mike all time." Max told her as she opened it. "This is Wonder Woman. AKA Princess Diana she's from Paradise Island, which is, like, this hidden island were there only women Amazon Warriors."
We spent the rest of the night reading and talking about El's past. I told her about Georgie and why we came here in the first place. She said she would help us find him. We talked about IT and how it gave me and Beverly our power. And she told us about her monster. The Demogorgon. I've heard Richie talk about it before when he showed me his D&D.
After a few hours, we fell asleep. Only to be woken up by a staticky voice coming from a walkie talkie that sat on Max's floor.
"~do you copy?~this is a code red~I repeat this is a code red.~ Max! This is a code red!~" Max picked up the device. "Shut up!" She said turning it off and rolling over to go back to sleep. After a few seconds of quiet, her phone started to ring.
"You've got to be kidding me." She says angrily.
"I'll get it." I say sitting up a stomping to the phone.
"It's Lucas, just tell him to stop calling."
I picked up the phone. "We're sleeping. Go away!" I tell them. But right before I hung up, I heard Richie, not Lucas.
"This is Richie. Do not hang up." I brought the phone closer to my ear. " something happened, something bad our very lives could be at stake."
"Rich, what are you talking about?"
"Just come over to Mike's house and he will explain everything."
"What?"
"-Hurry!" And with that, he hung up. I put the phone down and turned around looking at the girls who were listening.
"What did he say?" Beverly asked.
"It was Richie. He said to go to Mike's house as fast as we could. He said something bad happened."
"Okay let's go then." Max said as she got dressed. Then El. Then me and Beverly.
