Peace offering
Parang bigla yata akong nabobo dahil sa sinabi ni Race. I can't barely understand what he said. Jealous? Is he kidding me?
“Is this some sort of joke, Race? Because it's so funny that I can't even afford to laugh.”
Walang emosyon kong saad. Feeling ko nainsulto ako dahil sa narinig.
“I'm serious, Luienne. You may be won't believe it, but I... really am,” he bowed a bit. I chuckle, di makapaniwala sa sinabi nito. How could I? If in the first place he's getting married to my cousin!
“Stop fooling around, Architect Merande,” I seriously said, walang balak na sakyan ang kalokohan niya. “If you are that hungry to make fun at me like this, get inside and eat. I'll go upstairs, I'm tired.”
Nilampasan ko si Race at hindi na hinintay pang magsalita. Ang sarap siguro sa pakiramdam kung totoo lang iyon, kaso hindi e. I always remember what he did to me before. I was just fifteen years old when he broke my young heart, and I won't forget it. I lost my mom that time and I lost the man I love too. He chose Challi over me. And until now, he did. Kaya paano ko paniniwalaan ang mga sinabi niya kung noon pa lang alam ko ng wala naman talaga siyang gusto sa akin.
I threw my purse in my bedside table as I drop my self on the bed. I feel so tired and drain tonight, not because of Engineer Sandiniel and I's date, but because of Race.
I woke up with a heavy feeling. Tinatamad akong bumangon at gusto ko nalang humiga buong araw. Pero may mga gagawin ako ngayon. I need to check the site, the papers, some reports, and more. Isipin pa lang ang mga ’yon, mas lalong sumakit yata ang ulo ko!
I lazily walk through the comfort room and ready myself for today. Paglabas ko galing sa closet doon ko palang nakita ang isang pulang rose na nasa bedside table ko, katabi ng aking cellphone.
Nagtatakang naglakad ako palapit sa bulaklak, thinking that it was from Engineer Sandiniel. A small smile crept on my lips as I remember him, feeling so good and much better than earlier.
I pick up the flower, the smile remain on my face, but it was all vanish when I saw the small card on it.
‘Good morning, Wren Luinne. Let's have a breakfast together in patio when you get up.’

Thinking about eating with him... excites me. I admit, Race’s effect on me is the same as before, I only guarded myself for the impossible things that could possibly hurt me, like this. Pero sa huli ay sinunod ko parin ang nasa sulat nito kahit na masama pa rin ang loob ko dahil kagabi.
I sat down on the table Race prepared for us, nakaupo na rin ito sa harap ko matapos akong ipaghila ng upuan. The foods in front of me are my favorites. I don't how to react, but it seems like...
I tried the adobong manok that looks so delicious, at di nga ako nagkamali, masarap iyon, iba sa natikman kong luto doon sa mansion.
“Uh...” I glance at Race, waiting for what he's going to say. Nakita ko kung paano namula ang pisngi nito at tsaka bahagyang nag-iwas nang tingin.
“Uh... how's the... taste?” parang kinakabahang tanong nito. Seriously, Race kakabahan ka?
“Hmm...” ngumunguya kong saad. “It tastes... good. Who cooked this?”
Alam mo yung feeling na ngayon mo lang nakitang kinakabahan at namumula ang taong halos buong buhay mong hinahangaan? He is damn weird!
“I... cook for our... breakfast,” sabay iwas nang tingin nito. I can't help myself na magtaka when I saw how Race bit his lower lip and swallow. I saw his Adams apple move.
“Hmm... is this a... peace offering?” I teased dahilan nang pagbaling nito sa akin at nagsalubong ang makakapal nitong kilay.
“I didn't do anything so why would I offer you something? And it's not a peace offering, I'm courting you, starting now.”
Diritsahang saad nito, naiinis. Halos malaglag ang panga ko dahil sa narinig. I can even afford to laugh. Mas lalo akong nagtaka. I'm watching him serious like this, I'm kind of... nervous. Is he really serious about what he said?
“I'm serious on courting you, Luinne. And I don't care if Engineer Rossdeutcher court you too, I'll do my best to win you.”
