A/N: Hi! Since it's been so long since I wrote on this story I wanted to do a little short author's note. I'm not really satisfied with the way I wrote the story before and I think I could improve a lot in both format and language. I will therefore change the tense from present to past because I feel like it fits better. However, I will not be re-writing the previous chapters but I will try to make the new ones better and more exciting.

Thanks to all of you who are still reading this story despite my long absence! <3<3

"Hi mother"

"What the hell are you doing here?" Meredith asked looking at her mother with a confused look, trying to figure out what reason she was here for because it couldn't possibly be because she cared about her daughter, that much Meredith knew. Ellis Grey always had an hidden agenda, she was an everlasting enigma.

"I want to see you" Ellis answered with an annoyed tone, like it was the most obvious answer in the world. "Maybe if you would have taken my calls I wouldn't have had to fly out here from Boston"

"Call in singular," Meredith countered with. "You have only called once since I started here, wow you sure are mother of the year," Her mother's never ending tries to control her life was starting to piss her off and her frustration could easily be heard in her voice. "Bye the way, how did you even get in here? It's past eleven."

"Don't be so dramatic Meredith, I'm a busy woman," Despite trying to control her voice and her movements, her mother's attempt to dismiss her made Meredith boil inside. It had even made her forget about the man she, up until a few minutes ago, been on a date with. She hadn't realised he was still there until her mother pointed it out. "Well, aren't you going to introduce us?"

"Derek Shepherd" Derek held his hand out for Ellis to shake. He didn't really know how to react to meeting THE Ellis Grey.

"Ellis Grey, but I suppose you already know that," Ellis's response made Derek choke on his breath, she sure wasn't modest. He was still in shock over the fact that he had unknowingly gone out with the daughter of one of the most famous surgeons in the country, or maybe even the world. His three older sisters were all doctors of some kind and because of that he had grown up amongst medical tv and magazines, often covered by the woman now standing in front of him. She was one of the reasons he had decided he was going to study surgery.

"Mom, it's late and I have classes in the morning," Meredith tried to get out of the conversation. Both scared that her mom would embarrass her in front of Derek, but equally scared that it would be the other way around. Except her major dislike for her mother she still somehow wanted her approval of the choices she made and she wanted her to be proud of her. "We can talk some other time." Meredith started to make her way towards the hallway that lead to her room, Derek walking close behind her.

"We we will because this conversation is not over" Ellis said in a stern voice. Meredith had a feeling Ellis wasn't just here to annoy her.

"How come you haven't mentioned the fact that your mother is surgical royalty," Derek screamed whispered when they were out of earshot from Ellis. "You said you didn't have a story"

"I don't" Meredith answered, continuing walking towards her dorm ignoring that Derek had stopped.

"Being the daughter of Ellis Grey seems like quite a story to me." He was know jogging to catch up with Meredith's fast walking. She didn't answer nor did she turn around to face him until they reached her room.

"It was a good date," She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "I will see you tomorrow, goodnight." And before he could answer her door was closed.
