A/N - Hi guys! I know it's been quite while again and I'm really sorry about it. I have had a crazy year, because of covid and living abroad, and I have not had the time nor the motivation to write. I do think I'm back for a while now and will start updating more regularly again. I can't promise how often I will update but I will hopefully not leave you hanging for 1,5 years again. This chapter is quite long but I felt like you deserve this for sticking with the story despite my awful management.

I hope you enjoy the chapter and please leave feedback!!

"Meredith Grey?" It was Saturday morning, the day she was supposed to meet her mother for lunch. It was only 8 am but she had been out running for the past hour and had just gotten back to campus. Most days Cristina went with her and they could vent to each other but her nose was still hurting, causing her not to get very much sleep so Meredith didn't wake her up this morning. Running was her way of clearing her thoughts but today it just didn't seem to help. The campus was quite big and she still had a bit of a problem locating where all the exits and entrances were. The voice that was calling her was one she didn't recognize but still seemed familiar. She turned around to face a man in his sixties staring at her with a welcoming smile on his face.

"Richard Webber" Richard was the college Dean and a very renowned surgeon. He used to work with her mother at Seattle Grace Hospital which was the hospital funding the college and most of the students here sought to work at Seattle Grace Hospital after med school.

"I heard you were going here but I had to see it for myself" Richard said. Meredith didn't even know that he knew she existed. "I'm sure your mother is very happy you decided to go to her alma mater. This is actually where I met your mother for the first time."

"She is back in town for the moment actually."

"Well, good for her" He smiled a bit like he was remembering something."I never understood why she moved to Boston anyway."

"I'm having lunch with her later if you would like to join us." If Richard Webber was there maybe it would shift focus from her mother's disappointment in her to her mother and Richard reminiscing about med school and residency. "My sister will also be there." At the mention of Lexie Richards' face went pale.

"Ellis had another daughter?" Richard asked, or more stated. Meredith suspected that there was more history between him and her mother than he led on but she didn't have time for more drama than she already had so she just went on.

"No, Lexie is Thatcher's daughter with his new wife." Relief could be seen clearly on Richard's face. Meredith looked at her watch, realising that she had promised to meet the group for breakfast at 9 AM and she had to shower and get ready before. "It was very nice to meet you Mr. Webber but I have to get going."

"Very nice to meet you too Meredith, and call me Richard, dear"

The group met up at Joe's to have breakfast. Despite hurrying as much as she could, Meredith had still been late. She had told the group about her strange encounter with Richard and that had reminded Lexie about the lunch she was supposed to attend.

"You invited the dean to our, already horrible, lunch with your mother?" Lexie exclaimed frustrated. She had been up since 7 AM deciding what to wear to impress The Ellis Grey. She had also contemplated not going at all but she knew that would disappoint Meredith. They hadn't gotten along in the beginning but now Meredith was her biggest supporter and she didn't have the heart to let her down.

"Well I thought that might shift the focus away from us over to Richard." Meredith said, defending her decision. She loved Lexie but sometimes she could be very naive. Despite them being sisters, they had very different upbringings. While Lexie had parents that cherished and cared for her, Meredith had grown up with someone who would never see her as enough. Lexie didn't know Ellis Grey as more than the famous surgeon, and honestly, neither did Meredith really. That was the reason why she didn't know why her mother wanted to have lunch with them. Meredith and her mother had only just moved back to Seattle at the end of her junior year and her mother still spent most of her time out of state.
