Knee Socks *Sweet Pea* (Discontinued)

Chapter 9

           We arrived at Pembrooke, I left Sweet Pea in his truck as I ran into the building, I entered the living room and looked around, I heard people talking from Veronica's bedroom. I ran forward, entering the bedroom. Archie stood beside Veronica, Betty sat at the foot of the bed, as Veronica and Josie comforted a crying Cheryl. Everyone looked at me as I entered the room.

"Hey, Cheryl are you okay?" I asked sitting in front of Josie. Cheryl reached for my hand and I gave it to her, not saying a word.

"She's just a little shaken up." Josie said quietly.

"Thank god you're alright." My voice was quiet, as my thumb ran across her knuckles lightly.

"I wanna press charges." Cheryl said. "I want Nick to pay. To suffer. To burn in hell." I gently rested my head on her knee as she started crying again.

"Do you want some tea?" I asked quietly, lifting my head to look at her, she slowly nodded her head at me. "Okay. I'll go make you some." I stood up from the bed and walked out into the kitchen and set some water to boil as I put the cup together. I rubbed my face lightly. I leaned against the counter as Archie came out. "Archie, don't even say anything. Right now, we need to focus on Cheryl. That poor girl has been through a lot." I say waving my hands at him. He stared at me for a second thinking before he simply nodded his head and leaned against the counter across from me.

"I just have one question." He said simply. My eyes looked up, meeting his. "Are you still friends with us? Betty, Veronica, Cheryl, me?"

"Yes, Archie. If I wasn't I wouldn't be here right now. I still love all of you. I just don't agree with your guys' views on the Serpents right now, until they are proven guilty." I say nodding my head at him.

"One more question. Can I have a hug?" A quick smile appeared on my face as I looked away from him, shaking my head slightly. I walked forward wrapping my arms around his waist. "I'm so so sorry, Roxy. I don't mean anything I say. I'm sorry. From now on, I'm not going to mention your parents unless you say something. I promise." I nodded my head, and let go of him. The kettle whistled making us break from the hug, I took the kettle off and turned off the flame and poured the water into the mug. After the Tea steeped for long enough, Archie and I walked back into the room. I gently sat on the bed and handed Cheryl the mug.

"Careful, it's hot." I say quietly.

"Thank you, I know we don't really know each other, but thank you." Cheryl said quietly.

"I know you well enough to count you as a friend and that's all the matters." I rubbed her arm gently. After a while we all left. Sweet Pea and I sat outside my house. We were quiet, not really knowing what to say to each other.

"Thank you. You don't have to be doing any of this stuff for me. I know you don't like the Northside or the residents, but thank you." I say quietly with a small smile. He shrugged lightly. I got out of the truck and began to head inside.

"Hey, Little Red." He called out, making me turn around facing him. "I have one more request for tonight." I walked back over to the truck and looked at him through the window.

"And what would that be?" I questioned. He pointed to his cheek. I chuckled lightly, before leaning forward and pecking his cheek lightly. "Goodnight Sweets, I'll see you later." I turned and walked into my home. I closed the door and leaned against the door a little as I closed it. Vegas came up with his tail wagging. I kneeled down squishing his face between hands as I kissed his nose, he looked at me, his tongue hung out of the corner of his mouth. "Oh, Vegas, what have I gotten myself into?" A smile made its way up to my face as he let out a huff as if he was answering me. "Yeah, me too buddy." I let go of his face and stood up. I began walking up the steps, he followed behind me as I entered my room, he jumped up onto my bed. I began getting ready for bed.
