The next day we were in a Serpent meeting at school. Sweet Pea wasn't happy about what was going on and he had every right to be upset. I sat on the desk behind him as he yelled at Jughead, with Betty right behind me.

"You promised us a war. Then you're on stage looking like Buddy Holly, sucking up to the Northside?" Sweet Pea questioned.

"We need their votes, Sweet Pea. It's the only way that we can affect any change. Whoever's elected gets a seat on the School Board. That means we're on the inside, that means that they can't silence us." Jughead said.

"You and the Northside princess, you mean?" Fangs questioned. I stared at the side of his face with a set glare, as my hand ran up and down Sweet Pea's back.

"Wait, is that why you guys are pissed?" Jughead questioned.

"Wait, that doesn't make sense." I chime in. "I'm from the Northside, yet every damn time there's a meeting, I'm hauled into this room. Yet, you dislike Betty?" I questioned looking up at Sweet Pea. "If you ask me, that is so hypocritical."

"Betty's on our side!" Jughead added right after me.

"Yeah. I've helped the Serpents on numerous occasions. I helped find the Pickens statue's head, I got Cheryl to testify in court so F.P, your king, could get early parole." Betty said, protecting herself.

"You did all that for your boyfriend, not the Serpents." Sweet Pea argued.

"Alright, take it down Sweet Pea--" Jughead began.

"What, it's only a matter of time before she bails on us, just like her mother." Sweet Pea argued, I raised my eyebrows at him.

"Okay, so your objections aren't even about me, they're about my mom--" Betty argued.

"Her legacy, yeah. She's an enemy of the Serpent State taking shots at us in the Register for years, blaming us for crimes we didn't commit. Running with a turncoat's daughter is a slap in the face. And for that reason alone, you're not getting the Serpent vote."

"Oh my God, you are such a fucking joke Sweet Pea." I muttered out to him. I grabbed my things and walked out of the room. Soon enough Betty followed quickly after me.

"What was that?" She questioned when I stopped at my locker. "You pissed Sweet Pea off even more."

"So fucking what? Let him get pissed. Serves him right, he's talking down on the Northside, and I'm not gonna sit there and listen to it. Betty, you forget, I'm naturally from the Northside as well, so is my whole family, including my friends. I'm not going to sit there and listen to it. As much as I love the Serpents and Sweet Pea, I'm not gonna stand for it, so that is that. He'll come to me when he's ready." I explained to her, she knew I was right, and I knew Sweet Pea pretty well at this point, so she just went with the flow of it, knowing he would come to me when he was ready.
