The next day, Veronica, Betty and I all went to town for a girls day. I was nervous leaving Sweet Pea with Jughead and Archie, because I know Archie doesn't like Sweet Pea and vice versa.
"Oh, Ro. Don't worry about the boys, they'll be fine." Veronica said looping her arm with mine. We had been shopping almost all day. We walked into a small shop, I had departed from the girls as I looked at some small trinkets that the shop was selling. I placed down my bag of clothes that I had bought myself. I twisted a small piece of hair around my finger as I picked up a snow globe.
"Anne? Where did you run off too?" I heard Betty ask.
"I'm right here." I called back to her, she found me pretty easily. Veronica was following behind her.
"So, you and Sweet Pea huh?" Veronica questioned, a small blush made its way to my cheeks. "When did this happen? And don't forget I could hear you guys through the wall last night."
"Uh, the night of your confirmation. Was when we made it official and you know..." I say lightly, Betty let out a small chuckle.
"Jeez both of you on the same night imagine that." Veronica said, Betty and I both started chuckling. We moved towards the front of the store, I picked my bag back up and followed after them. "Well, as my abuelita likes to say, 'praise Jesus.'" A smile made its way to my lips. "Hi, I'd like this and this." She had placed a candle and a jar of honey on the counter. Betty and I stood on either side of her. "And, oh, that last time I was here, you had the most scrumptious scones."
"Yeah. Yeah, my grandma makes 'em, but just during the summer for the summer people." The guy said.
"Oh. That's when we normally come up."
"Thought I recognized you. You've got one of those places on Shadow Lake, right? But you're usually with your folks."
"Yeah, they're back in, um... I was about to say New York, but we're in Riverdale now." Veronica said, handing him some money.
"That hick town? I bet they don't even know what to do with you there." I looked up at him with a slightly annoyed face, but his eyes were only trained on Veronica.
"No, they do not. What's your name, handsome?" Veronica asked.
"Okay, enough flirting here." Betty said. "You had a fight with Archie, you didn't break up with him."
"I'm Cassidy." He said after Betty was done talking. We turned and walked out of the store.
"So, how's it been? You know, with you and Jughead?" Veronica asked as soon as we stepped out of the store, there were a group of three guys sitting outside the store, I glanced at all of them as we passed by, I didn't like the looks of them, they all stared at us as we passed by.
"Oh. Things have been nice." Betty answered.
"'Nice?'" I questioned.
"Nice is not what I heard last night." Veronica added.
