i sit up in bed and wait and wait and worry for this one text. i get a call from a random number, under it says the location is los angeles, california. i answer the call anxiously...

avani's pov

av- hello?
??- hello is this avani gregg?
av- yes, this is her.
??- hi ms. gregg, this is sheerwood hospital. you are listed as anthony reeves' emergency contact as girlfriend. is this information correct?
av- yes ma'am.
sh- mr. reeves and his friends were in a car accident and have been brought into the hospital. i am contacting you to let you know. feel free to come down to the hospital now or whenever.
av- is he alive?
sh- all 5 of them that were in the car are alive.
av- ok thank you.

i put down my phone and cry. i can't breathe. i roll out of bed and go to my mom's room. i feel like the world is running in slow motion. it needs to speed the fuck up right now. i shake my mom while crying.

"avani? are you okay?" she asks me freaking out. "i'm fine, it's anthony. he was in a car accident." i cry so hard. "can we go to the hospital?" i breakdown. my mom gets out of bed and hugs me. "yes of course, let's go." she says. i go to my room, i put on sweatpants and a sweatshirt. i put my hair in a messy bun and put on my glasses. i grab my phone and my lanyard.

i see my mom putting her shoes on. she has her purse in her hands. "come on." she says walking out of the apartment. she locks the door then we take the elevator down to my car. she is going to drive because i am an emotional wreck and i can't see straight.

the entire car ride i just cry and freak out. my mom comforts me the entire ride. i want to curl into a ball and never move again. i also kind of want to vomit. but i have to stay strong.

we pull up to the hospital and walk in together. i wonder who the 5th person was... because anthony, griffin, jaden, mads, and... uh dixie. no. no. no. i see charli, heidi, and mark all sitting in waiting room. i also see josh, bryce, quinton, and kio as well. i hug charli so tight.

i go around and hug everyone. i sit down and see riley, dakota mads' siblings and her parents frantically enter into the hospital. riley has tears streaming down her face. i go over and hug her tightly. i also hug dakota. we all are emotional. very emotional.

we all sit in the waiting room and anxiously wait. i sit next to charli and my mom. i lean my head on my mom's shoulder. i almost fall asleep. until a nurse walks into the waiting room. i jolt awake.

"hi, i'm assuming you are all here for dixie d'amelio, griffin johnson, madison lewis, jaden hossler, and anthony reeves." the nurse reads out we all nod. "well, all of them are alive and stable. if you have any questions about one of them individually you can ask one of us." the nurse says. "do you know how the wreck was caused?" mark, dixie's dad asks. "it appears as a hit and run. no drugs or alcohol were consumed by any of the driver or passengers in the car." the nurse announces.

i walk over to her. "can i know about anthony reeves?" i ask the nurse privately. "yes, and you are?" she asks me for security reason i'm assuming. "avani gregg, his girlfriend." i explain. she nods.

"anthony is stable, but he did receive some injuries. a lot of scratches, a broken wrist, and he was put into a medial induced coma due to the swelling of his brain. he will be ok and should wake up in 3-5 days. luckily, his body can naturally fix his brain swelling on its own. he will be fine. you can see him." the nurse reassures me. i smile at her. "thank you." i say to her. i give her a hug. she smiles and comforts me. i probably look like an idiot.
