The next morning I found my cheek resting on a warmer, harder pillow rather than the usual cold soft one. I opened my eyes to see Maihua's peaceful chest rising slowly up and down as she breathed... and my hand on her torso.

"Ahh!" I screamed, falling out of the bed.

"What!" She exclaimed, jumping up. "What happened?"

"I... I was.... I was laying on top of you!" I said, running my hand through my messy bed head. I really need to take a shower.

"Don't deny it, you enjoyed that." She smirked.

"I'm so sorry, I need to get a shower." I ran into the bathroom and took a burning hot shower, it hurt, but I didn't care. It was distracting me from what I didn't want to feel.

Once I stepped out of the shower, I wiped the condensation off of the mirror with my hand and looked at myself. My stomach. Fat. My arms. Jiggly. My legs. Disgusting.

I wrapped myself up in a towel and left the ensuite. Luckily when I stepped out of the bathroom Maihua was gone. I saw she'd made the bed and got changed, her pajamas were folded neatly on the edge of her side of the bed.

I stepped into the walk-in closet connected to our room, I decided that I wanted to not look as homeless as I did the day before. I took a pair of black shorts off the shelf and a blue hawaiian shirt from a hanger and walked back into the room.

I tucked the shirt into the shorts and slipped into my white converse. I wanted to let my hair dry naturally so it'd have some small waves.

I filled in my eyebrows, flicked my eyelashes with mascara and put on some cherry chapstick. I then meandered over to the bathroom to take my antidepressants. It's a normal thing. They gave them to me when my mom died.

I snatched my phone from the nightstand sitting beside my side of the bed.

I walked out of our room and ran down the stairs to the main living area where some of the crew was sitting. We planned this trip together when we were freshman and now we're finally here. Hawaii.

There's eight girls, Maihua, Dani, Lex, Bia, Keira, Cat, Florence and I and four boys, Frankie, Jasper, Cory and Jack. I feel so sorry for the guys on this trip, they're heavily outweighed by girls.

"Hey y/n!" Bia hollered over to me.

"Hey guys." I sat on the couch next to Keira, I was not very close with her but I offered her a smile and she graciously accepted. I stuck to my main group of three, Dani, Lex and I... And more recently Maihua because she'd been dating Lex.

Lex had been my best friend since birth... Literally. We were born on the same day, in the same hospital, our mothers met there and became best friends. Since then, we've been inseparable.

My dad used to tell us we could be sisters, but I knew that was definitely not the truth. Lex was tall, 5'10" to be exact, thin and pale, her hair was a bright ruby red and her eyes were a stunning shade of green. Lets just say she is not hard to look at.

Me on the other hand, I'm short, 5'2", I'm a bit thicker, tanner skin because of my descent, thick and wavy light brown hair, and blue eyes. Not exactly what you'd call traditionally pretty.

"So who'd everyone get stuck with?" I asked.

"I'm alone for the first four weeks." Dani said, not looking up from her phone. "And I'm not complaining."

"Florence and I are together." Keira smiled. Made sense, they were really close friends for all of high school.

"Cory and I are bunking." Frankie shot me a grin. Once again, it made sense.

"I got put with Cat." Bia playfully pushed Cats shoulder.

"Don't pretend you don't love me!" Cat pushed her back, laughing.

"And that left me with Jack." Jasper explained, leaning against the armrest of the couch casually looking over at Bia, smirking. They've had an on and off relationship since sophomore year.

"Sounds nice." I said.

"So you're with Maihua?" Bia asked.

"I am." I confirmed. She looked to Jasper. "What?"

"Oh nothing." She mused.

"Hey," I heard her raspy voice from behind me. I turned around and made eye contact with Maihua. "Can I pull you for a chat?"

"Yeah of course." I followed her out the sliding glass door that separated us from the beach. We walked down to the shore and sat in the sand. I let my fingers graze the surface of it before plunging them deeper down and feeling sand between them.

I heard her take in a sharp breath as I did so. I looked over to her and saw that she was watching my movements intensely. "So what did you want to talk about?" I asked, breaking her out of her deep train of thought. I want to know what she's thinking about with such focus.

"I just wanted to talk about earlier." She met my eyes, but only for a second before looking out to the horizon. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable or upset."

"Oh no, it's okay, I just wasn't expecting to wake up like... that." I stuttered.

She chuckled and shot me a heavenly smile. "I just wanted to apologize anyway." She looked down at her hands that were fiddling with a seashell. "You hungry? I can make some breakfast."

"I actually am not hungry but thank you." I smiled to myself and continued, "Besides I think we need to go food shopping. I'm not sure if we even have anything in the house."

"Yeah, I did not think about that." She smiled again. "Maybe we should go back inside and suggest that."

"Lets go." I stood up and offered my hand to help her up.

She took it and said "Thanks."

As we trudged back into the house, I couldn't help but watch the way she walked. She was so confident in herself and held her head up high. I loved watching her. I could watch her sit and do nothing and find it enticing.

"Hey guys, we should probably do something about food." Maihua opened the empty refrigerator. "We have nothing but this box of arm and hammer." She pulled it out, inspected the box quickly and then put it back.

Cat quickly stood up and announced, "I will be in charge of food. We should make a list of things people want then put in money. Bia, y/n and I will go shopping then." My ears perked up at my name.

"Sounds fine by me." Bia said.

"Uh... me too I guess." I said, laughing awkwardly. I didn't want to say no but I also didn't want to go. It's not that I don't like them, but Bia and Cat can be a bit much, but I guess people could say the same thing about Lex and I.

And with that, we started to make a shopping list.
