"So Maihua wants baking ingredients for some reason." Bia read the list of ingredients. "Could we just get a box cake instead? This is going to cost us a fortune."

"I guess so." Cat responded, inspecting a package of strawberries. "What do you think y/n?" She looked up at me and smiled.

"Yeah, I guess a box cake could work." I smiled back. She placed the strawberries into the cart and we kept walking. "I'll go grab some mangoes." I said, "I think Jasper said he wanted some."

"Yeah, go for it." Bia replied, crossing something off of the list she was holding. I wandered the aisles of fruit until I reached the mangoes. They looked so good, so juicy. I picked three up and found Bia and Cat as they were looking for snacks.

"Cat, no one likes cool ranch doritos, they taste like ass." Bia argued.

"Yeah well no one is going to eat flamin' hot! Not all of us like spicy food!" Cat growled. "You're impossible."

As I approached them I tried my best to not get into the middle of their argument. "Okay let's get y/n's opinion." Both of them turned towards me as I placed the mangoes into the cart.

"Uh..." I nervously laughed. "I think we could just get nacho cheese, I feel like it's a pretty well liked flavour." I looked between the two hoping one of them would say something soon.

"True." Cat said, placing the cool ranch doritos back on the shelf and picking up two bags of nacho cheese. "She's right Bia."

"Fine." Bia put her bag back on the shelf too.

When we finished shopping and got back to the house, I helped to put the groceries away then I went up to my room. "Hey y/n." Her voice made me shiver.

"Hey Maihua." I closed the door and walked over to where she was sitting on the bed. As I got closer I noticed the bloody cut on the side of her face and the bruise around her eye that looked really painful.

"Woah, are you okay?" I rushed to sit next to her. I grabbed her face and pulled it closer to my own so I could inspect it better. "Maihua, what happened?"

"Nothing y/n." She laughed, and we stayed in that position for a few more seconds, "If you get any closer, we'll be kissing." A huge lump grew in my throat as I thought about that. I let go of her face and turned away.

I ignored her comment, she's just messing with my head. "There's got to be a first aid kit around here somewhere." I opened the door to the bathroom and looked underneath the sink, I pulled out the white box with a red cross on the front.

"Cupcake, I'm okay." She wiped her face with her hand. "It's not a big deal. You should see the other guy." I rolled my eyes and walked back over to her.

"Maihua, you're not okay, look at yourself." I opened the kit and pulled out the alcohol and a cotton bud to clean her up. She winced when I put it on, but only slightly. It was such a small movement you'd have to really pay attention to see it.

The cut ran from right under her cheeckbone to the end of her jawbone. She rested her hand on my arm that was cleaning the wound.

I looked into her eyes and for a moment I thought she was going to say something but her eyes turned dark and she took her hand off of me.

"What happened?" I asked again, hoping that maybe she'd open up to me.

"Y/n it's got nothing to do with you, don't worry about it." She said harshly. She met my eyes once more and I swear they softened for a second before going back to a harsh glare.

She stood up abruptly and grabbed her leather jacket from off of the floor. "Where are you going?" I called.

"Out."

"Maihua!" She slammed the door shut, leaving me scared and shaking. I cleaned up the first aid kit and put it back into the bathroom before leaving the room again.

"Hey y/n!" I bumped into Florence in the hallway. "How's your stay been so far?"

"Hey! It's been good, although all I've done is gone food shopping." I joked, hoping she wouldn't notice that I was still shaking.

She laughed and responded, "Well a few of us are thinking of going to this party tonight, Lex said she could hook us up with this friend of her cousin who can get us in."

"Oh that's cool." I said, I was never one for parties. It was too smelly and sweaty and just gross.

"You want to come with us? It's supposed to be really fun, there's an open bar and plenty of hot Hawaiian girls." She winked. I'm out as a lesbian to most people, some I just never really got around to telling.

"Tempting but I think I'd rather stay in to be honest." I said.

"No, she's coming with!" I saw Dani race towards us. "I'll help you get ready."

"Awesome!" Florence waved and walked off into her room.

"Dani! I hate parties, I didn't even bring anything to wear." I hissed, glaring at her.

"Y/n hush and come with me." She led me down the hallway and into her room. "Okay I brought a lot of clubbing clothing," She opened the door of her closet and started pulling stuff off of hangers. "so we are going to find the perfect outfit for you."

I grunted and laid back on her bed. "Fine."

After almost two hours of trying on outfits, I found one I didn't actually hate. A loosely fitted red spaghetti strap silk top with a bit of black lace on the top hems with a black mini skirt and a pair of platform sandals.

"I look so fat." I said, turning to the side and scrutinising my stomach and arms.

"You look hot baby!" Dani assured me. "Maihua would love you in this."

"What are you talking about?" I turned around from looking in the mirror quickly. "Dani? What are you talking about?"

"It's so obvious you like her."

"Do not."

"Do too."

"Do not."

"Just admit that you like her." Dani rolled her eyes. "She's pretty sexy if you ask me... And I'm straight."

"Shut up." I growled. "She's dating Lex."

"Doesn't matter who she's dating. You like her and you have liked her for as long as I've known you, and how long has that been? Like four years?"

I took a sharp breath in. Has it really been that long? Four years? That's pathetic. "Four years." I whispered to myself. "I'm pathetic."
