Fighting

I threw a punch at the girls face, she toppled over to the ground, her nose bleeding on the mats. The ref counted "Three, two, one! She's out!" We were taken off of the mats.

"You're a really good fighter. Where d'you train?" A guy asked, I looked over my shoulder and saw a tall handsome guy with a smile on his face.

"Not around here." I replied, taking a sip of water from a bottle that was set on the bench next to me.

"Obviously, you're knocking girls out left and right." He said sitting down next to me. "I'm Kian." He offered his hand, I shook it.

"Yeah, I'm from Colorado."

"Ah cool cool. D'you ski?"

"Snowboard." I smiled.

"That's sick. We never get snow here, I'm stuck surfing." He said.

"I've always wanted to learn how to surf." I replied, taking the tape off of my hands. "Maybe you could teach me sometime?"

"Yeah, here..." He took out his phone and handed it to me to put in my phone number. I put it in and handed it back to him. "Y/n? That's beautiful."

"Thank you." I laughed. "I've got to go but I'll see you around Kian."

"Yeah, see you around."

I left the building and stood outside of the mall smoking a cigarette.

"Y/n?" I heard a familiar voice say. I turned around to come face to face with Dani, Bia, Cat and Keira. "Oh my god, where have you been? We've been worried sick!" She hugged me tightly. "Why are you so cut up and bruised?"

"I've been working out."

"Working out? For a week?" I took a drag on the cig.

"Yeah, kinda."

"Maihua's been miserable, she said she's probably called you about 100 times." Keira added. "We were debating calling the police."

"I'm fine."

"We're taking you back to the house for a shower and some food, you look sick." Dani commented.

"I'm fine." I repeated. "I've been eating fine."

"Let's get you back now."

"I have a car so I'll just meet you guys back." I said laughing.

"Okay." Dani trusted me. "We'll see you back at the house."

I dropped the cigarette and pressed my foot down on top of it. I walked off in the direction of the car. I took the keys out of my pocket and turned them into the ignition, firing up the engine.

"Alright I've tortured them enough, time to get home." I arrived back at the house thirty minutes later.

"Oh my God, y/n!" I heard Florence yell. She ran out of the front door tackling me. "Where have you been? It's been a week since we last saw you!"

"Out." I held Maihuas gaze as she stood in the doorway. "I need to take a shower. So I'm going to go do that."

"Okay." Florence responded. I followed her back into the house and back up into the room. It smelled so much like her.

"Where've you been?" Maihua shut the door behind her and pressed her back up against it. "You look beat up."

"I'm fine."

"You don't look fine." She walked closer to me and brought her hand up to my face, the thumb grazing on my swollen lip. "Who did this?"

"No one." She didn't more her hand, instead she just rested her thumb on my bottom lip. "It doesn't even hurt." She squished the part of my lip that was cut and I flinched.

"'It doesn't hurt' my ass. You're hurt, whether you like it or not."

"I'm dirty. I need a shower." I grabbed her wrist and pulled her hand off of my face. She followed me into the bathroom. "What're you doing?"

"You haven't taken your meds in a week, I was worried about you."

"I'm fine."

"You're not fine y/n! You're not! You're acting weird and you have all these mysterious bruises! What's going on?"

"I'm fine..." I squeaked.

She let out a breath and said "Take your meds."

"I will."

"Now."

"You're not my parent, stop acting like you are."

She took a step back and choked on her words, "No, I'm not. But I care about you."

"Yeah right. Get out of the bathroom." My eyes teared up.

"Yeah right? I almost called the police to look for you, I know I called you at least 100 times, I went out looking for you when everyone else was sleeping. Y/n, don't tell me that I don't care about you."

I felt the tears fall down my face as I fell to the floor on my knees. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I let you worry for that long. I was scared you'd do the same thing to me."

"Cupcake, I could never." She knelt down and wrapped her arms around me. "Let me help you clean up and take care of some of those cuts, okay?"

"Okay." She lifted me off the floor and put me on the countertop. I took off the shirt I was wearing, exposing all the bruises and cuts on my chest and stomach. When she saw, her eyes shot up to mine.

"Where were you?" She stood in front of me, her hands on my thighs.

"I was fighting." Her grip on me tightened.

"You were... fighting." She repeated. "Why?"

"I had to let out the frustration and anger in some way and that's the way I know how to do it." I responded, putting my hands on top of hers.

Her grip loosened and she said, "I know other ways baby." She winked and I laughed and everything felt normal.

"You are ridiculous." She smiled and embraced me.

"I've missed you."

"I've missed you too."
