Running down the beach, I turned to make sure Kian was still next to me. "Keep up, Kian!" I joked. He raced out into the water, and I followed him.

"Keep up, y/n!" Kian yelled over the crashing waves. I climbed up onto my board when my feet could no longer touch the ground.

I paddled with my arms out into the deep ocean and waited. "So, how do you like surfing?" Kian asks, jokingly.

"I hate it." I respond sarcastically.

We both laughed and Kian said, "I'm glad you're enjoying it."

I saw a wave coming behind us, so I started paddling towards shore.

The crystal clear wave picked up my board, I stood up quickly to catch it. I hear Kian shout, "Surfs up!" The most cliche thing he could say! I thought, laughing.

When I saw the shore, and the wave I'm riding died out, I lay stomach-down on my board again and washed up on the sand.

"I really like spending time with you, y/n." Kian said whilst picking up his board.

"I really like spending time with you too."

"D'you want to maybe go out for real sometime?" He placed his hand on the back of his neck nervously.

"Ah... I should've told you this before." I laughed. He looked at me, confused. "I'm a lesbian, my girlfriend was the one talking to you and making sure you were going to keep me safe."

He laughed. "Of course. Makes sense. She's a lucky gal."

"I think I'm the lucky one." I laughed with him. "I think you might've also met Dani who's really interested."

"Yeah..." He laughed, "She's not really my type to be honest."

"Oh?" I laughed, knowing what he meant.

"I just don't usually go for girls that talk that much... or touch me that much."

"I get you."

"D'you want to go get food? I know this place that makes killer fish tacos."

"Sure." I smiled. We walked back to his truck, put the boards in the back and got in. "I'm just going to call Maihua and tell her."

"Okay." He smiled at me.

I took my phone out of my bag and selected her contact. "Hey cupcake, is there something wrong?"

"No nothing's wrong." I laughed, "I just wanted to say I won't be back for dinner, I'm going out with Kian so I guess I will be back later that usual."

"Really?" I heard Maihua sigh. "Tonight's take out night. Bia even got us some booze. Rum to be specific, I know it's your favorite."

"That's awesome, I'm so jealous. I'm just having a lot of fun with Kian so I'll be home late. That's all I want to say." I nervously stuttered.

"Okay, no problem." Maihua said.

"Thanks baby."

"Have fun!" I could feel that she was smiling, I was smiling too.

"Love you."

"Love you too."

I hung up the phone and looked at Kian. "So how far is this place?"

"We're here." He turned into a nice restaurant and parked the car next to the edge of a cliff. I looked out across the ocean, the sun was setting, turning the sky into a beautiful shade of pink.

"Kian, this place looks really nice. All I wore was jean shorts." I laughed.

"It's okay, we're not going in there."

"What? Where are we going?"

"Stay here." He returned a few minutes later with two plastic bags. "Come over." He motioned for me to get out of the car.

"Here," He handed me a paper box. "Fish tacos for two." We hopped in the bed of the truck and looked at the sunset.

"These are amazing." I said with a mouthful of food.

He laughed at my gracefulness and responded, "Yeah they are. My family owns this joint."

"That's awesome."

"What do your parents do?" He asked looking over and smiling.

"My mom passed a few years back and my dads a hopeless drunk." I replied, taking another bite of the taco.

"I'm so sorry."

"Oh don't be. I turned out fine I guess." I laughed, finishing the taco.

"I think you turned out amazing."
