I walked to class barely making it to my desk. I didn't sleep last night. More like couldnt. It was a little scary being in the room alone. Her desk was empty and- I missed her.

"Maiko? What's wrong? You don't look so good. Come to think of it, where is Chiyoko-chan?" Eita asked.

"She left," I said in a dead tone, "She transferred to Tokyo. She just left a letter for us yesterday. She's gone."

"What?! So sudden?"

I just sat there in my desk. He sat next to me and patted my head. My eyes were getting teary, but I didn't cry.

"Did she text you or anything?" He asked.

"She said she will once she is settled over there."

"Okay. If you need anything, I'm here okay?"

I nodded. Coach Haruno called me out of my class.

"Listen, Kobayashi. I know it's hard that Chiyoko left. For you and for the team as well. But I want you to choose the next libero. I trust you Kobayashi. I will be a little late to practice today so I want you to have a talk with the team and decide on a libero and have Eiichi-kun tell me about it okay? Also tomorrow I want to talk to you and Shiori to go over the strategies." She patted my back, "Stay strong, child. I will see you at practice."

The day went by in a flash. It was time to go to practice. I could hardly move. I walked with Shiori and Nyoko and none of us said a word. The whole day. We quietly changed and went to the gymnasium. The team was waiting for us there.

Shiori tugged on my shirt, "You know you have to talk to them right?"

"Yea."

The three of us stood in a line in front of them.

"Eiichi-kun, I'm sure you heard what happened last night?"

He nodded slowly.

"I know all of us are sad. Chiyoko is a very good libero and now another team will have the benefits of having Chiyoko as a libero. But, we still have to fight and go to the nationals. Tamane-chan?"

"Yes!"

"Do you mind being the libero? I know you are a setter but I have observed that you are very good at defence too. I know you will have to change your training quite a bit but I will stay back with you and help you practice. I'm also choosing you because you learn things quickly."

"I'm fine with it Koba-san! I will be the best libero I can be! For Shiratorizawa!"

I smiled at her, "That's the spirit. Eiichi-kun will you please look into her jersey?"

"Yes!"

"Okay, get to practice. Don't mind me but I would really like to just sit outside. I will be on the stairs if you need me. But I don't really feel like practing today. Please excuse me."

No one said anything. No one objected. So I sat on the stairs. I was thinking back to the time Chiyoko and I had met for the first time. She was shy back then. But an awesome player. Shiori, Chiyoko, Nyoko and I were inseparable. We are each other's family basically.

As my mind played flashbacks of all the memories I had with Chiyoko, I didn't even realise how much time had passed.

"Maiko? Why are you sitting out here."

I looked up to find Wakatoshi, huffing, sweaty. I didn't answer. I just didn't want to talk. He sat beside me.

"Do you not have practice?"

"I do but...the thing is I got into a little trouble."

"You?! You got into touble? What did you finally break the net with your spike?" I joke trying to divert the topic from me.

"It's just that I met two first-years from Karasuno and I let them inside the campus."

"Karasuno? The crow team? Why did you let them in??"

"Well, I don't know either. But the two boys I met. They're very... interesting to say the least."

"More interesting than Oikawa?"

"Oh come on! Anyway, why aren't you in practice?"

"Oh...uhm..." I looked away trying to come up with an excuse.

"Is it because of Uchida-chan?" I looked up at him.

"Semi told me."

I just nodded. My mind began to wander again. Subconsciously I expected him to say something. But he just sat there, in silence. It made me kinda happy. I was happy that he understood right away. That I just needed some silence.

I felt his arm around me, he pulled me close. My head was on his chest, his arm around my shoulder and the other around my waist.

"T-thought you m-might need it.... I'll stop if you want." He pulled away but I pulled him back in.

"This is nice." I felt heat on my cheeks. He was really comfortable to hug. His chest and arms...just perfect.

I got so comfortable in his arms, I didn't even realise I started to cry. He didn't say anything, again. He just let me cry on his chest. I held him tighter and closer. His head rested on mine.

Once I was one I wiped my tears. I tried to move away but his grip was too strong.

"Uhm Wakatoshi?"

He hummed

"You can let go now."

He looked down at me and took a while to process what I said, "oh!" And he let me go.

"Thanks, Wakatoshi. I really needed that."

"Are you going to be okay? I don't want you skipping practice too much okay? If you want to cry I am here."

I smiled at him and he stared back at me. He tugged a strand of my hair behind my ear and stroked my head.

"You should get going. If anyone see's us like this..."

"They'll think we're dating of course," he said with seriousness. I rolled my eyes and hit his chest.

"Just go before your punishment get's doubled or something."

"Okay, but if-"

"I'll let you know! Now go!"

He started to jog and waved back at me.

I felt much better. So I went back in to practice.
