Chapter 23 - I'm Really Sorry

Chapter 23

Ashley-

"Ross?" I say into the phone once he answers.

"What's up?" He sounds tired. I feel bad that he didn't sleep.

I've been thinking though. Maybe I went to the extreme last night.

"I've been thinking," I say softly. "And I don't think we should go through with it."

Ross-

My eyes widen in surprise.

"O-oh," I say. "Are you coming back home then?"

"Um," Ashley pauses for a second to think. "Okay. I'd like to see you to talk."

Ashley-

We hang up, and I gather up all the kids' stuff, and mine, driving home, to be met by a hug.

"We'll be upstairs," Carter tells us, taking Jewel from my arms, walking up the stairs with Annabelle, and Ross and I sit on the couch in the living room.

"So you haven't told the kids, right?" Ross asks, and I shake my head. "I was, but I've thought it over and I don't think we should. I know what I said last night, but it... it-"

I couldn't continue because my voice cracks, and tears start to stream down my cheeks, and I feel Ross' arms around me from the side.

"Shh, it's okay Ash." He whispers into my hair, kissing it lightly. "It's all okay. I know what you mean. And we'll figure it out."

After a few minutes of my soft cries filling the silence of the room, Ross kisses my hair again as my cries die down.

"Here," his arms release me, and his thumbs swipe away my tears from my cheeks, and he smiles a small smile. "Can I see you smile?"

I shrug, looking away from him, but he quickly moves face back to face his.

"C'mon Ash," he still smiles like he was before, and I can't help but smile back, and he smiles even wider. "There's that beautiful smile. Now no more tears, okay?"

I nod, leaning into his shoulder, and his arm drapes around my shoulders, and he kisses the top of my head. Carter walks in, a soft smile is on his lips.

"You're okay now?" He sits across from us on the loveseat, and I feel Ross nod. "Good. Love you guys." He walks over, hugging us, then walks out of the room, leaving us alone again.

"I love you, Ross." I pause. "And I'm sorry about last night and right now, even."

"No, no, don't be." He kisses my head again. "Don't worry. I love you too, Ash."

Okay so I guess I kinda scared all of you haha! Don't hate me but I didn't want Ross and Ashley to get a divorce. I just didn't have the heart. But I hope you won't hate me for this...:)

I don't know when I'll update again, as my cousin is over for the weekend! But I'll try soon!
