004- REJECTION OF ARMS

We made our way to the other building, which Sev mentioned earlier was the academy's Weaponry Hall, since as the schedule stated, our next class was Arms.

Curious, I asked Sev what it was about, and he simply explained that it focused on training how us to wield divine weapons—blessed by our parental deities.

"The Class Medialis and Neophytos will be joining us for this subject, along with our few other classes. To simply put it, we'll be having joint lessons with them," Sev informed as we stepped into the massive training hall. His words caught my attention.

"Neophytos and Medialis?" takang tanong ko sa kanya.

He turned to me, brows furrowing. "How do you not know about the other classes?"

"Wala naman kayong sinabi?" patanong na saad ko. He only narrowed his eyes at me.

"Hindi ka naman nagtanong," Sev scoffed before continuing, "Well, the academy is divided into three classes—Neophytos, Medialis, and Primarius."

"Primarius is usually reserved for the offsprings of the Olympians and other major deities. Medialis, on the other hand, is for the skilled direct and indirect descendants of most major gods. However, there are instances where children of the Olympians are still placed in Medialis as well—though the academy's criteria for that remain unclear, so I'm not really sure why. Lastly, Neophytos is for the novices, semideuses who have yet to control their powers. Most of them are new to the academy. This class includes the children of minor deities, nymphs, and huntresses of Artemis. There are also scribes and oracles-in-training under Apollo—"

I cut him off. "If that's the case, then why was I placed in Primarius? I'm not even a child of an Olympian or major deity like the rest of you. Shouldn't I be in Medialis or Neophytos instead?" well technically speaking, most sources don't really classify my mother as a major deity.

"Iyan din ang ipinagtaka ko noong una," Sev admitted bluntly. "I was actually stunned when I saw you wearing the Class Primarius uniform."

"But," dagdag niya, a small smile forming on his lips. "I know that the goddess Eunomia wouldn't have placed you with us without a good reason."

His storm-grey eyes seemed to glimmer, leaving me momentarily speechless.

"Anyways, moving on…" Sev gestured toward a group of students wearing brown and gold uniforms. "See them? They're from Class Neophytos. There are about… hmm, maybe five hundred of them—? In the academy?" he estimated. I simply nodded before he continued.

For such a massive academy, I'm surprised there weren't that many of us.

Maya-maya pa'y isang tanong ang biglaang sumulpot sa isipan ko. Napatingin ako kay Sev. "Why would they immediately place the descendants of the Olympians or major Greek gods in Class Primarius, even if they're still novices? Shouldn't they start in Class Neophytos instead?"

Sev shook his head, clearly amused. "Offsprings of the Olympians are expected to possess powerful magic due to their ichor—the blood of the gods—which they inherited from their divine parents. It would be too dangerous to place them in Class Neophytos while they're still learning control. If they lost it, their—our abilities could be destructive, even catastrophic. The academy couldn't risk the safety of the other students."

I nodded slowly, trying to process his explanation. But before I could reply, Sev's eyes widened in sudden realization.

"Of course! For the love of Athena, bakit hindi ko ito naisip kanina?"
