Author's Note:

Hello everyone! Before anything else, gusto ko lang sabihin na, SHET ANG HIRAP PALANG MAG-REVERT TO MY PREVIOUS WRITING STYLE FOR TPOF HUEHUEHUE kasalanan talaga to ng mga binabasa kong International novels, chour. I'll slowly be editing this while updating, hindi ko na nakayanan kajejehan ko, LOL.

Anyways, ganito yun, :( I’ve been gone for sooooo long since I had to focus on my studies (grad-waiting that time, nakakapressure), and honestly, my mental health… well, let’s just say it wasn’t very healthy so I decided to lie low muna. But I made it—whew.

Right after our grad, we went straight into review for the boards, took the exam last November, and now, finally, I’m done! Huehue, I wanna cry. Pasensya na talaga sa panggo-ghost at ngayon lang ako nakabalik ulit :( and thank you so much po, everyone, for your undying patience and support. I'll do my best to deliver updates! Lovelots <3

075- A FLAME THAT WILL NEVER BURN OUT

AEODYSUS

Three.

I've been wandering the Phlegraean Islands for three days now, searching isle after isle for the earthborn. My father's bane. Pero wala pa ring swerte.

And now I'm currently heading for the Phlegraean's fourth and last island, the Isle of Prochyte.

"Draped in flames and weaponry, the burning king shall fear," I whispered in the wind, reminding myself of those specific lines from the Bane of Fourteen.

Habang papalapit na ako sa isla ng Prochyte ay nagtaka ako nang may marinig akong sunod-sunod na sigawan. Tila ba'y may nagkakagulo sa kung saan—at nanggagaling ito sa mismong isla.

Then at that instant, I saw a pillar of black smoke ascending towards the sky.

Something was burning. And it looked like it came from deep into the forest of the Isle of Prochyte.

Nang makadaong ang sinasakyan kong bangka sa dalampasigan ay walang pag-aalinlangan na akong napatakbo kaagad papasok sa kagubatan, and not even a few minutes after, I heard screams.

"Help! My house! My children!"

"Somebody! Help me put it out!"

"Gods help us! Our village!"

Nang makarating na ako sa mismong lugar na pinanggalingan ng usok sa gitna ng kagubatan ay kaguluhan kaagad ang nadatnan ko.

The flames had already engulfed almost half of the village. Huts were collapsing in smoldering heaps. The people, screaming. The old, the young, the wounded—running, stumbling, crying out for help. I caught a man by the shoulder as he sprinted past me.

"What happened here?" tanong ko rito. Nanlaki naman ang mata niya nang magtama ang paningin namin, bakas sa ekspresyon nito ang takot.

"M-Monster. T-There was... h-he—he was of fire, a-and stone. He came from nowhere—destroying the villages!" sunod-sunod na tumulo ang mga luha niya kasabay nang pagluhod nito sa lupa.

"Mimas. Mimas walks again," rinig kong wika nito. Kaagad akong napaluhod sa harapan niya. I urged him to meet my gaze.

Mimas.

That name froze my blood for some reason. Could he be—

"Was it a giant?" I immediately asked the man again. Nagpatango-tango lang siya sa'kin, tila wala pa ito sa sariling katinuan.
