Chapter 27: The Help

Henry's POV
" What do you mean extinct?" I said much louder than I expected.

"Titanoboa is an extinct snake that lived during the Paleocene Epoch and is considered to be the largest known member of the suborder Serpentes. Titanoboa is known from several fossils that have been dated to 58 million to 60 million years ago." Charlotte explained.

"What does that mean? Is she going to die?" Jasper said worriedly.

"No one's dying. We just need to figure out what to do." I said calmly." Schwoz, Charlotte, anything?"

"How are we supposed to know?" Schwoz asked.

"You're the geniuses. Figure it out." Both of them groaned. Roxy started to move so we surrounded her. She gripped my arm because it was the nearest. She gripped on it tighter." Roxy, you're going to break my arm."
She continued to grip on it even though I winced like she was trying to say something.

" Snake Bracelet." She managed to say.

" Where's her snake bracelet?"

"It's in our bedroom. But I'm obviously not going alone." Charlotte said.

"I'll go with you. But somebody has to pick up Ray."

" I'll do it. I'll take the truck you take the van?" Jasper said as he gave me the keys to the van.

"Oh no you're driving." Charlotte groaned.

"What's the problem with that?"

"SLOW DOWN!" Charlotte shouted in my ear.

"I'M TRYING TOO!"I shouted back.

"This is the reason why you'll not get a driver's license next year." She said as the tyres screeched on the road.

"Yeah thanks for the reminder." I said sarcastically as I pressed on the gas pedal. We didn't talk again till we reached her house besides her cursing when I made a very sharp turn. She got out of the van quickly and decided to climb the tree near her bedroom window because she lied to her aunt she was joining Roxy on her morning run. I watched as she climbed up slowly and I wished she would do faster. It was killing me to know that Roxy was dying and the funny fact was that she didn't even seem to care. The more I hung out with her the more I realized that she'd been through a lot of stuff that she hadn't told us. It angered me that she wanted to work alone and that she felt that the tiger warrior was all her responsibility. I didn't understand why she won't let us help her. We knew the consequences of helping her. I wish she could understand that. Charlotte came back running." Where is it?" I asked as she entered the van.

"It's here." She said revealing it from under her sweatshirt. Its black eyes sparkled a bit and I quickly looked to the front. That bracelet was creepy and beautiful at the same time. I drove as quickly and carefully back to the Man cave. We both ran inside Junk n'stuff to the elevator and I crossed my fingers to hope she was okay. We ran to the sick bay as Charlotte called it and found Ray and Jasper had already arrived.

"Finally, what took you so long." Jasper said irritatedly. I didn't answer. I didn't understand why he thought he should still date Roxy when I almost kissed her. Not that I told him that....... but still. Charlotte took the bracelet and carefully put it on Roxy's wrist. After that its eyes glowed white and all of a sudden her eyes which were closed opened completely as she started to scream. Or roar. I couldn't quite get the sound. Her fangs were out as she tried to get out bed.

"Hold her down." Ray said as we rushed down to hold her down on the bed. She was strong for a girl who had four guys holding her down. She relaxed after sometime and sat up.

"Roxy lay back down." Schwoz instructed her .

"I'm okay." She said but I said,

" He said lay back down. You're not okay, look at your arm." She rolled her eyes but laid back down but quickly removed the bracelet .

"So I hope this changes your mind on us helping you."Charlotte said as she sat down.

"I want to say no but I know you guys will still be right behind me so.... I hope you're ready for snake girl."

"Of course we are ." Jasper said.

"Really? Because that means I can't run alone." She said smiling mischievously.

"Yeah." Jasper said scratching the back of his neck, nervous.

"Did you get the snake girl by the way?" Roxy asked Ray. I had even forgotten about her.

" No. She started to run away when she saw her venom didn't affect me. I chased her but after she turned on a block she disappeared."

"We have to catch that serpent before the tiger warrior sends anyone else. It's like he's testing my skills. He first sent Daniel and it didn't work out for him then......."

"Wait, Daniel Lahey?" Charlotte asked. Roxy and I both nodded. " No wonder I haven't seen him in school." Jasper looked shocked too I guess because he didn't believe me when I told him earlier my suspicions about him.

"From right now we should always be on a lookout. Everyday at every place." Roxy said as she started to close her eyes, the strong sleeping pills Schwoz gave her taking control.

"Oh my God your lockers are even near each other!" Bianca shouted as we got to my locker.

"That does not mean anything." I said as I opened my locker. I saw from the corner of my eye that Roxy was listening to us but she just wasn't showing it. I wanted to get away from here as soon as possible. I did not want her to hear that this argument about her.

"So where did you go?" Bianca asked.

" There was an emergency at work."

"There can be emergencies at junk stores?" She asked sarcastically. She was really getting on my nerves." There was a scary creature attacking the school and you disappeared."

"Uh no. You disappeared for sometime and I couldn't find you." Roxy then closed her locker loudly with force and said,

"Morning Henry. Morning Bianca." She gave a wicked smile like she wanted to laugh at us.

"Morning." I answered crossing my fingers hoping she won't say something mean. Bianca didn't answer back.

" Ooh, someone looks angry in the morning. It's a beautiful day. How about a little smile?" She said too over enthusiastically. And she said it like she meant it. She was a good actress because right now I knew she wanted to laugh.

"You're boyfriend stealer." Bianca murmured.

She laughed so hard at the statement that people started to stare at her." Moi? No no Bianca. Let me tell you a fact about me. I don't look for the boys, the boys come and find me." She left with her books and bag and I watched her as she sashayed away. Bianca hit my arm repeatedly. After a few seconds she appeared quickly, walking slowly towards the door.

"Roxy?" Charlotte came running. I guessed she was walking with her. Roxy passed us and Bianca looked at her like she was crazy.

"Are you okay?" I asked as she passed again.

"Yeah. Thought I heard something." As she left , I remembered her words, Always be on the lookout.
