Meet the Parents

As per the plan, once Hyun Bin is done with his movie filming, he and Ye Jin will meet their parents and tell them about the pregnancy and their marriage plan. They could not waste any more time as Ye Jin will enter her second trimester soon and her baby bump will be showing. Though she never said it, Hyun Bin knows that Ye Jin is afraid or their parents' reaction to her pregnancy news especially his parents. Which woman is not scared of the reaction of her partner's parents if she got pregnant first before getting married especially in their conservative Asian culture, this is still considered a disgraced to some families. She has so many worries of other people's reactions to her pregnancy which concerns Hyun Bin. This is inevitable because society tends to judge the woman who got pregnant out of marriage more than judge the person who caused it. He knows that every day she thinks how to break the news to her family, company, friends and fans. 

To avoid her being more under stressed that she has been which is not good for their baby, Hyun Bin decided to meet his parents and talk about their situation alone.  He tells his parents that he is coming over for lunch and need to discuss something and luckily his parents did not ask any further.  He told Ye Jin that he needs to meet someone to discuss agency matters. He knows if he told her he is meeting his parents to break the news she will insist to follow. He arrived at his parents' villa at 11 am and his mother is busy in the kitchen to prepare lunch. "Eomma," he hugs his mom from behind. 

The small frame lady looks tiny inside her broad shoulder's son's embrace. "Oh, you are here Tae Pyung. I am just about to cook. Go and relax in front first while I cook," Jung Mi Sun trying to push his son out of the kitchen but he is just too heavy for her. 

Hyun Bin does not budge from the kitchen. Instead of going out, he takes the apron and put it on. "Let me help you, Eomma." he loves cooking and always helps out his mom in the kitchen. "What are you cooking?" 

"Your favourite, Yukgaejang. I can do this TaePyung ah. Just sit in front or go and talk with your abeoji. He is upstairs." ignoring his mother, Hyun Bin takes the bean sprouts and cleans it.  Jung Mi Sun just shakes her head seeing her son. She knows that her youngest enjoys cooking so there's no used to ask him not to help her. "Why do you come alone, where is our girlfriend?" 

"She's busy," he answered short and continue with his works. The mother-son duo is busy catching up while making food and by noon they managed to make few dishes for lunch, all of his favourites. Hyun Bin missed his mother's food that he is happy his mom fulfilled his request. 

The family of three is in the midst of having lunch when Hyun Bin decided to brave himself and tell them the real reason he comes and visits. "Abeoji, Eomma, actually there is something I want to tell both of you," he carefully laid his words to his parents. The two elder persons turn to their son waiting for his next words. "I am going to marry Ye Jin ssi." They look surprised but not too shock probably they can see it is coming somehow or rather. 

"Are you asking for our permission? I think you are old enough to make your own decision about your life," Kim Won Hong asked his son nonchalantly. He might be a serious parent but as his sons getting older, he trusts their decisions and choices in life especially with his maknae who had proven him that he made the right choice in his life. 

Jung Mi Sun, on the other hand, is so happy after hearing that. "Chincha? When are you planning to have the wedding?" her eyes beams in excitedness. This is the news she has been waiting for years. 

"We are going to register our marriage very soon because .... because ..... Ye Jin ..... Ye Jin is pregnant," his last word makes his parents stop eating and stare at him. Luckily they did not get a heart attack. Looking at their reaction, Hyun Bin knows that he needs to explain himself. "I know this news is not really a piece of good news and I admit that we did make a mistake but things had happened and I need to take full responsibility. I cannot let my baby born out of marriage. I am not really asking for permission, I am just notifying. You can be mad at me later, but this is what I need to do," he speaks without taking a break or to let his parents cut him off.
