Chapter Twenty five.
The number of texts and missed calls I had were too many to add up together and instead of reading them I clicked on Sandra's name.
"Alex, oh honey where are you? Aiden said you were with a friend. We spoke to Kim and Anna, they haven't seen you. Tell me where you are sweet girl and I'll come get you, you're not in any trouble." Sandra's voice was panicked and wobbly - had she been crying?
"I am so sorry," I whispered. "I - I didn't mean to, I just - I didn't know what to do. I still don't know why you are all so nice to me and - and I'm just really sorry."
"It's all going to be okay, you have trust issues and that's completely understandable, just tell me where you are so I can get you, please?" She pleaded down the phone.
"I'm with Cameron, but, I'm - I'm not ready - yet, to come back. Can I - can I stay a little longer? He can bring me back later." I asked, not sure she would agree after everything I'd caused this morning.
She was quiet for a minute "Of course honey, if that's what you want... I'll see you in a little while?"
"I promise." I said my goodbyes before ending the call, just in time for Cameron to come back in struggling to hold all the snacks he'd brought with him.
I jumped up to help relieve him of the food and helped lay them on the bed.
"Wasn't sure what you liked so got a bit of everything." He grinned down at me, eyes twinkling, I couldn't believe after everything I'd told him he was acting exactly the same, if anything he seemed even more comfortable with me.
Aiden had treated me the same when I'd told him, and now Cameron. Had I just chosen the two most perfect people to confide in? Or was everybody going to act the same around me?
"It all looks good to me." I smiled shyly up at him. "What did you want to watch?"
He sat down on the bed, leaning over to take my hand and drop me at the side of him before opening his arms wide around the food and pulling it all closer to us.
I was a little tense sat on the bed with him but he was so focused on the food he wasn't paying any attention to me.
"Up to you, I'm not really bothered what we watch." He shrugs, passing me a soda and the remote.
I clicked the TV on and the profile screen of Netflix came on automatically. There was a profile for Chuck, someone called Tilly and the last was Cams which I clicked and started looking for something to watch.
"It's Chucks Netflix, he just lets us use it as well." Cameron explained even though I hadn't asked.
We settled in watching a random comedy, and I tentatively helped myself to the food. I was still a little nervous sat so close to him on a bed no less and kept looking over at him while he laughed along with the movie.
My eyes trailed over to his tattoos which were clearly visible since he was only wearing a short sleeved top, his jacket hanging on his door.
The arm closest to me had a pirates ship covering the top half and a skull made up the bottom half of the ship, it had been done with a lot of detail and looked impressive. I had always associated tattoos with bad men, as most of Mikes workers were covered in them, as was Mike. It was incredibly stereotypical of me and I was glad my opinion on them was slowly changing due to Cameron.
"What are you looking at?" Cameron's gruff voice asked with a raised eyebrow.
I squeaked embarrassingly at being caught out but shook the effects off and hoped my face wasn't as warm as it felt.
"No- Nothing, just your ta-tattoos." I kept my eyes forward and tried to focus back on the TV.
"They don't have a deep meaning behind them, I just liked the idea and they looked good put together, Chucks brother inked me, he owns a shop." I felt his gaze on me now and looked back at him.
"They- they look g-good." I stuttered honestly and he grinned down, but there was a mischievous glint in his eye that I didn't understand.
"I've got more, hold on." Before I could blink he'd whipped his T-shirt off and was sat on his knees beside me.
"Oh." I stupidly said, my eyes kept flickering from the movie, to his bare chest and back again, quickly taking in his torso covered in tattoos that wrapped around his shoulder and arm.
His grin had turned into a smirk as he watched me try not to stare too long at his body, he definitely worked out that much was clear.
Before either of us could say anymore his door swung open and Piper was stood in the doorway arms crossed and looking equal parts disgusted and annoyed.
"I told you not to sleep with him," she directed this at me with a look of disappointment before turning her glare to Cameron and scrunching up her face "Ew, put your clothes back on, you're supposed to be looking after us, or did you forget because you were thinking with your downstairs brain again."
"Piper, I'm going to kill you! Knock next time you little twerp and stop being disgusting, you're a young girl." his eyes had narrowed in on his sister while he put his top back on, he walked towards the door but instead of going through it he shut the door on her.
"Sorry about her." Cameron gave me a sheepish grin which turn into him cringing when we heard piper shouting through the door to wrap it up and come down to help her with Becky.
"Act-actually, uhm could you- t-take me home-?"
"Yeah, sure, I'll bring the two brats this time so Piper can get off my back." He grabbed his shoes and jacket and I followed him downstairs.
"Come on you two, I'm dropping Alex at home and then I'll take yous to get McDonald's or something. Only if you're both good and don't say anything that's going to make me change my mind." He purposely looked at Piper, who pretended to zip her lips and throw the key away.
I was really glad I'd phoned Cameron this morning.
