The sun woke her up around five o'clock, her eyes sore and burning like an outback as she blinked, her eyes wide and the ceiling swimming. "Oh God....I feel the University flashbacks all over again", she muttered in a croaky, dehydrated voice. "Who knew lack of decent sleep could mimic a hangover".
She felt her eyelids drooping heavily and a small snore escaped her throat, making her jump and wake up. "Nope...need to get up", she sighed, forcing her body to sit up as she cupped her head in her hands and felt her vision spin like a washing machine. "Not good, but I have no choice but to go in".
She stood up, her legs feeling like lead weights as she dragged herself over to her wardrobe and dressed herself without paying much attention. She then proceeded to the bathroom, taking care of her hygiene and walking out as a sweet scent hit her nose. She looked over to the vanity and remembered Ivory's clothes. She would have to give them back, but she would need to take them to a dry cleaners first. After all, It was only polite.
A light tapping came from her hotel room door as she was applying her makeup, making her sweat. She wasn't presentable enough for the world right now. "Give me five minutes Detective White, I'm busy!".
The knocking stopped but then came shorty after, Kira just about finishing her makeup and opening the door with a frown.
"Nice to see you too", muttered Ivory, a small chuckle escaping her throat, which quickly turned in to a red cheeked laugh.
"What? What are you laughing at?", fretted Kira, suddenly looking down at her top which was buttoned up so poorly it looked like a child had done it. "Oh haha, very funny!", she mumbled, turning away from Ivory, her cheeks burning beetroot as she unfastened them and corrected her mistake. "Let's just go and get a drink and some food before this hell hole day ahead of us".
"Oh...uh...I-I'm cool I don't-".
"I'm waiting", said Kira as Ivory sighed and followed her down to the restaurant. The red head glanced down at her watch, "We have forty minutes to eat and get to work, so make the most of it".
"Uhh yeah...", uttered Ivory, feeling her anxiety rising as she plated up a small portion of food and sat down, taking the moment to eat as much as she could whilst Kira was making herself a coffee.
The red head sat down and looked at Ivory. "How do you manage to survive on such a small portion of food?".
"Uh", Ivory felt her cheeks glowing pink in embarrassment as she put her cutlery down and gulped hard, sweat beginning to build up on her forehead. "I uh...I'm not very hungry", she muttered.
"Why have you gone so red?", frowned Kira in confusion.
"It's nothing...I'm hot", squeaked Ivory, unable to look at the woman.
"Uhhh...okaayyy", said Kira in an uncomfortable tone as she began to eat, allowing herself to bask in silence.
"Good Morning Ladies, are you enjoying your meal?", questioned an over bubbly waitress with a smile that reached her eyes.
