Chapter 2

▪️Baechun▪️

"So you must be Kim Baechun? "
A guy carrying a guitar welcomed me as I enter the club room.

He must be the guy Jongdae oppa told me yesterday. I must make good impressions.

"Yes.. Hello. I am Kim Baechun. 1st Grade Section 2. Nice to meet you."
I bowed 90 degrees angle.
"I am Han Hyunseok. 3rd Grade.. I am the Vice President of the Club. Jongdae told me about you. It's a relief we have one new member this year. "
He looked sad as he was fixing his guitar.
Why was it a relief for him? What was wrong about this club? I have a lot of questions in mind, but I guess it's not the right time to ask these.
Is Jongdae oppa around? I roamed my eyes around.

He noticed me."The others will come soon. Why don't you make yourself comfortable.. and sit there."

He pointed at the sofa.
The club room is simple. Just like any other room. It has picture frames on the wall. There were a lot of them... but why did Jongdae oppa say that there were just 6 of them?

" If you have any questions in mind, you can keep that later when the rest arrives. We will have a short meeting. I'll go check something from the storage area. Suit yourself here. I'll be back in a while. "
He eyesmiled and went out from the room. He is kind and friendly. I hope the rest are the same.
Now, it's just me, myself and I.

There was a quiet moment when the door opened.. I thought it was Hyunseok-ssi but I saw new faces coming in.. they were laughing when they stopped and found me..
4 people.. two boys and two girls.

"Hi.. you must be our new member. I'm Jang Seunghee.. 2nd grader.. Hyunseok oppa told us about you." A short girl with a cute hairstyle approached me and grabbed my hand. The rest followed her and they stood in front of me. They must be the other members. 1,2,3,4 plus Hyunseok-ssi and Jongdae oppa. There were really 6 of them.. plus me making them 7.

I stood up and greeted them.
"Hello. I am Kim Baechun. First Grade Section 2. It's nice to meet you all. Please take care of me."
I bowed.
"Yey.. our maknae. The name's Lee Junkyu, 2nd grader." The one with headphones around his neck showed a finger heart to me. He looks funny.
"Never mind her sweetie. I'm Jung Miyoung. 3rd grader. " She has long hair but she acted like a boy.
The last one didn't look at me. Adjusting his sharp glasses, he kept reading at his book.
Miyoung-ssi elbowed him. I heard him whispered 'Tss.'
"Song Dohwan here.."and went back to reading his book. He went to sit on an ottoman. Junkyu-ssi left to check the fridge and got some chips.
This club even had a fridge and a small table.
"We are classmates, together with Hyunseok and Jongdae.." Miyoung-ssi explained pointing at Dohwan-ssi and went to the table.
"I and Junkyu too. I am happy to meet you Baechun-ssi."
Seunghee-ssi smiled at me. I smiled back at her and said "Baechun is alright."
"Really? If that's the case..you can call me Unnie.."
"Me too" Miyoung unnie called.
"Oppa is so fine too." Junkyu oppa showed another finger heart.
They stared at Dohwan-ssi who's still busy reading. He lifted his head and said.. "Call me whatever you want."
And they all chuckled.
They look so friendly.

"Oh Yah Baechunie.. Did Hyunseok come here? I didn't see him around. He's never late." Miyoung unnie asked me.
"Ahh Hyunseok-ssi went out to check something in the storage area. He'll be back soon."
My voice is too low. I don't know if they heard me but they do.. I am still coping up with making acquaintances.
They all look pretty and handsome.I feel like the only different here.

"Hyunseok oppa must be fixing Jongdae oppa's guitar."
Seunghee unnie checked the guitar that laid down on a center table.
"Jongdae hyung is gone again.. busy with his training huh." Junkyu said muching some chips.
"Yah.." Miyoung unnie hit his arm.
"Why? I bet he's in SME today working hard as a trainee."
Trainee? in SME?
Is Jongdae oppa training in SME?
Is this what he said about not being here all the time?
They stopped talking and stared at Junkyu oppa. Maybe they are trying to silent him. Even Dohwan oppa noticed and closed his book.
Junkyu oppa just realized what was happening and continued eating.

Nobody spoke after when someone came in. It was Hyunseok-ssi.
"So I guess everybody's here. Shall we start the meeting. Jukyu-ya.. you better finish that."
Junkyu oppa hurriedly drank his juice and cleaned the table.

They all went to the table. With hesitation, I walked slowly still feeling the atmosphere of these seniors.
Seunghee unnie saw me and called me to sit beside her. She made me feel welcomed.. that I am now one of them.

Hyunseok-ssi sat at one end of the table while Dohwan oppa at the other end beside me. Junkyu oppa is opposite me smiling here and then. On his left is Miyoung unnie.

"Before we start, I would like to formally welcome our new member Kim Baechun. She joined and was accepted by Jongdae yesterday when we all left. Seems like you already knew each other so we'll proceed to the agenda."
He was so serious. Everyone had their attention to him. Even the talkative Junkyu Oppa zipped his mouth.

"First we'll talk about the club's registration. Mr. Principal informed us that our club had limited function and participations in school activities. He needs further update or else.."
Hyunseok-ssi paused.
"The club will be closed." Dohwan oppa continued.
Closed? I just started but why would the club be closed?
Everyone gasped.
"You heard it right.. One of the major reasons is the lack of manpower..According to the club guidebook, every club must have at least 10 members to operate."
I see the point now. There were only six of them.. and Jongdae oppa is not around.
"We only need three more to start working, right?" Miyoung unnie asked.
"But how do we get new members.. we only had one today.." Junkyu oppa interrupted.
"That's the only problem. We need to invite more to join us." Hyunseok-ssi said with worries in his face.
"How do we do it?" Seunghee unnie asked.
I am the only one who hasn't spoken yet.
"Baechun-ssi. Do you have ideas in mind?"
I almost coughed when Hyunseok-ssi asked me.
Ideas? I am not so sure. This is my first time. How would I know?
"I don't know Hyunseok-ssi. But if you have a plan I can totally go through with it."
That's the least I could say.
"Well, I guess we'll start with what we used to do."
And I see the disagreement in their faces.
What is it that they used to do?

Why do I feel like it's a dangerous one?
