What should a woman's body look like? What should she add or remove to make it seem more appealing, less disturbing, threatening, sexual, and less intimidating? Why do men get to decide if she is allowed to keep a foetus inside their womb or remove it? Should she erase the cellulite, acne, stretch marks, fat, wrinkles, hair and dark circles? Would that make men like her more? Perhaps she might start liking herself for a change.
There is no harm in doing what you want to your own body because you own it; your vehicle will see you through till the end. The problem is that we try to please others and appear in a certain way; in the process, we hurt ourselves. Women need to become much more than just a number: what our age is, our height, what we should weigh, and what our body measurements should be. Clothes should be manufactured to fit different body types, we should not feel compelled to fit in, and for heaven's sake give women pockets in jeans that are real and can actually fit stuff in.
Self-love should never be confused with selfishness. We are programmed to be people pleasers, and that's a big reason for us trying to appear a certain way, but in the process, we lose sight of who we really are; more importantly, the only person worth pleasing is - yourself.
