I stared at the closet. Which shoes, the rose gold pumps or the beige heels? I looked back at the mirror. My dress was a peachy color and both pairs could go with it. I could ask Jesse but he probably doesn't care. If I wrote the rose gold I would have to sit most of the time or my feet would kill me, but the beige ones where a little more busted up. I couldn't make up my mind.

"Di!" I yelled. She was probably in her room. Sure enough, two seconds later she appeared. Grabbing both pairs of shoes. I turned and faced her.

"Which ones?" I said. She looked at both, circled me once and said,

"The beige, rose gold ones are nice but they are too fancy and clash with your jacket."

"Thanks, beige heels it is." I said. I sat down on the edge of the bed and started putting the beige ones on.

"Where are you going?" Di asked.

"I'm going to my friend Monique's birthday brunch. It's in the city, I don't feel like using public transpo, so your bro is going to drive. Did you want to spend the day in the city?" I looked up at her.

"No thanks mom said she was going to take me to see our potential next house."

"That's nice. The one around the block?"

"Yeah."

"I hope you like it. How are you feeling about selling the house?" I asked as I checked to make sure I had all my things.

"I wish we didn't have to but now all I can think about when I go there is dad dying."

"I'm sorry Di, but you're going to make a lot of new happy memories in the new house. And maybe it will help you remember all of the good ones."

"Yeah I guess." She said. Seeing that I was done she started to walk downstairs with me right behind her.

"Alright Jess, I'm ready!" I yelled. He walked over to me putting his hands on my waist.

"You look beautiful." He said. He took my hand to spin me around. Being in heels I was almost his height. I stood on my toes and kissed his nose.

"You're so cute." He said. He picked up his  his keys.

"Di, you going to be alright? We won't be back until like eight." He said as we walked towards the door.

"I'll be with mom, stupid." She said laying on the couch.

"Oh, guess what? We've definitely had sex there. Right where your head is. See you later!" Jesse said. Diana jumped up and screamed while we rushed out the door. I slapped his arm.

"Would you stop terrorizing your sister?" I said as he opened the car door for me. Funnily enough it was a good sign that they  were both doing better. If they weren't constantly bothering each other, like all siblings do, it would be extremely concerning.

The car was so hot that I started sweating immediately and was suddenly grateful that Jesse had covers on his leather seats or ny legs would've been on fire.

"She called me stupid."He said sitting down in the driver's seat. I rolled my eyes. I was so glad Jesse didn't mind driving to the City today. I am NOT a New York driver. I can drive just over the border but once you get to Manhattan, that is a completely different beast. But Jesse, having attended NYU for four years, could drive comfortably around the city while I freaked out. He pulled out of the driveway and his hand slipped into mine. We enjoyed the silence for a while, as the air conditioning brought the car to a livable temperature.

Once I got bored of looking out the window, I looked at Jesse. J. Cole blasted through the speakers of the car. He way he would mouth the words to his favorite J. Cole song made me giggle. His face would get serious, his eyebrows crinkling, as he bounced to the beat.
