"Ugh," Jesse said as I helped him unto the couch. we had just come home from the hospital, it was about 4AM and we still had a long night ahead of us. I had to make sure Jesse didn't fall asleep for too long because sometimes when someone has a concussion they will fall asleep and slip into a coma, make sure he was comfortable and not fall asleep myself. I felt so awful for him, he couldn't take any pain relievers, and he was really beat up, not to mention when you injure ribs you feel it with every breath you take, and there is no relief. He couldn't talk unless he wanted to risk damaging his vocal cords, and because of the concussion he was struggling to read or write, and because of the swelling in his neck, was on a liquid diet for a few days.
"Do you want your feet up?" I asked. He shook his head.
"Let me take your pants off, you're not going to be comfortable in jeans all night, babe." I said. He shook his head again.
"I know it's going to hurt, but you are not sitting in those jeans all night. That's disgusting, get the pain over now, you have to change eventually." He shook his head again.
"Do you want your mom doing this or me?"Jesse rolled his eyes and started pouting. I sat down between his legs facing him. I moved my hands slowly up his legs. We had to call his mom to help watch him, and make sure he didn't fall asleep while I went to work.
It's extremely crazy how being a doctor, you NEVER call out unless you are or someone close to you is dying. And me being a black female in a male dominated field could not afford to under any not life or death circumstances. I've seen doctors in residency who were dragging their own IV pole around treating patients, one step away from passing out. Because the second you do, you're not dedicated enough, you can't deal with minor issues. I thought long and hard about this before we called Aiesha. Even though my department was a little more lenient about taking days off, I just couldn't take the risk this close to recommendation time, even if I will feel guilty for the next five years for not staying home, even Jesse told me to go to work. But what does he know, he's concussed. If she wasn't able to take care of him, I wouldn't have gone to work.
"How about you be good for your doctor and then I'll do something fun for you?" I asked him, I could tell it was killing him not to talk. I started to unbutton his jeans the whole time keeping eye contact with him.
"Now, when I count to three, lift your hips up, so I can pull it off." I said as I unzipped his jeans. I kissed the skin just above the line of his boxers, teasing him just a little.
"One, two," I made sure to get my hands in the best position to pull his pants down the fastest. "Three, lift!' Jesse groaned loudly as he lifted his hips and I quickly pulled his jeans off.
"Okay, down." I said. I balled the filthy jeans up. I wasn't going to tell him but these were so going into the trash, I wasn't even going to try to wash them. I tossed them into the corner.
Getting back between his legs I slowly kissed the inside of his leg, getting higher and higher.
"See, that wasn't so bad, now sit back..."

"Jess, Jess, wake up, It's six AM. I gotta get ready." I tapped Jesse on the shoulder gently, trying to make sure he was up. He didn't respond, I shook harder, no response. I sighed, shaking harder, but still no response, I smacked his leg, causing him to jump.
"Ahhh!" Jesse, said clutching his heart.
"I'm sorry baby, I had to wake you up. I have to get ready for work, are you going to be okay, need anything?"
"Pee." He said. I flipped on the light so I could check on his injuries.
"Damn!" I said as I looked at his face. All of the bruises had turned deep eggplant color. The one on his cheek had turned eggplant purple, but the swelling on his nose had gone down.
