"Your brother," Iseul repeated softly. "He's your brother."
Taeyong took a deep breath and finally faced her, "Yeah... I guess we really don't choose our family, huh?"
"And to say that you used to hate me because of mine," Iseul scoffed.
Taeyong didn't have anything to say to defend himself. He knew she was right. He had hated her for things she couldn't control, just like how he couldn't control the fact that Park was his brother.
"I guess it's gonna take some time for you to forgive me," he spoke. "I understand."
It was so weird for Iseul to see him so vulnerable and genuine. She was not used to it, but she liked it.
"How come his last name's Park, though?"
"Well, he's been a Lee since my parents adopted him twenty years ago, but he changed his name when he first joined the mafia world to distance himself from our family. So he took his previous name back."
Iseul nodded her head, and checked her watch instinctively. "We should probably hurry."
"Oh, yeah, right." Taeyong had almost forgotten the reason why they were in the woods in the first place.
They both started to walk again, but this time in silence and finally, they spotted a large house in the middle of the woods.
"What's the plan?" Iseul asked.
"I get in, you wait here, and we get back home."
Home. He had said it. NCT's headquarters were now her home, and the simple phrase made Iseul's heart beat faster.
"Yeah, except I'm not waiting here."
"What?" Taeyong turned his head in her direction, "yeah, you are. I agreed you'd come with me, but you're staying here."
Iseul shot him a glare. He was back being an asshole. "You know I can take care of myself," she spat.
"Yeah, I know you can," he smiled at her. "But that's your father we're talking about, so you don't know how you'll react once you'll be facing him for real. So you stay hidden, and wait for me, alright?"
"I'm not a kid!"
"Stay. Here."
Iseul was already regretting all the info she gave him on the place as Taeyong started to get closer to the house. He got in by the front door, as Kang was waiting for him anyways, and as soon as he was out of sight, Iseul got out of her hideout and headed to the back of the house. Stay here and don't move, my ass, she thought.
"You're late," Kang spoke as Taeyong joined him in the main room.
The house was empty, only Kang seemed to be here. What the hell was he thinking, coming here alone to meet Taeyong? Didn't he know that the man wanted to kill him? Iseul thought.
"Sorry, the traffic's terrible," Taeyong said nonchalantly. "What do you want, Kang? You already have your daughter, and now one of my members."
"I don't care about that stupid boy. But you, on the other hand... Lee Taeyong, head of the NCT Mafia, one of the most powerful gangs out there. You, my friend, are worth so much more than your little member."
Taeyong clenched his fists and he had to restrain himself from punching him.
"You're going to come with me, and in exchange, I'll free the other one."
The young man scoffed, "And how do I know you're going to keep your promise?"
"Oh, don't worry," Kang smirked, "I'm a man of my word."
