The tension filling the car was becoming almost unbearable, and no one dared to break the silence. Well, no one except Yuta.
"Taeyong, what the hell?"
The leader shot him a glare, but the Japanese male ignored it, "That was my window! You don't get to crash my car just because you feel like it."
"Drive," Taeyong's voice was low.
"What?"
"I said drive. Taeil-hyung located Jeno's phone, we're gonna go get him."
"Him and Iseul, you mean?" Doyoung asked.
"No, she's not coming back."
"Excuse me?" Yuta spoke, looking at Taeyong seating next to him.
"Look at the road."
Yuta's eyes went from the leader to the road in front of him, but that didn't stop him from sending glares to the man every now and then.
"Hyung, we can't let her there. She was obviously lying to Kang!"
"How would you know?" Taeyong spat. "Truth is, we don't know her real face or where she really stands. Until this is cleared up, we're done with her."
"They won't forgive you, you know that, right?" Johnny spoke.
"You too, Johnny?"
"We're just telling you what you don't want to hear, but it needs to be said."
"Johnny's right," Yuta agreed.
"I thought I told you to drive," Taeyong retorted.
"I'm multitasking."
Taeyong sighed.
"If you want to leave Iseul to her father, fine. You're the boss, after all, you get to make the shots. But you'll have to take responsibility for that decision yourself and tell the Dreamies why their friend isn't coming back, and why you let her behind, when all this time, all she's been trying to do is help," Johnny said harshly.
"Oh, yeah, she's been really useful," Taeyong's voice was filled with sarcasm.
"She might not have been helpful regarding Kang, but that's only because she didn't have the info we needed, not because she didn't want to. The second Jeno called you that day when he went to see her at uni, you knew that she didn't know anything regarding her father, and yet, you still brought her home. You were aware of the fact that she was clueless, so don't you dare make her responsible for your ignorance. And by the way, Iseul is a really kind and funny girl, she made our house feel warm again, she made it feel like home. Let's be honest here, we were not happy until she came along. That's the best thing she could have done for us. So no, she might not have been useful in the way you wanted her to, but we still owe her."
Mark took a deep breath after his speech, and Johnny gave him a proud smile. Taeyong stayed silent and looked at the window, only to realize they were approaching fancy gates.
"Guys," Yuta spoke as he stopped the car in a hidden area not far from the entrance, "we're here."
They all got ready, and Taeil guided them to the back door by hacking all the security cameras. His room was now empty, everyone had gone back to their room after listening to Iseul's conversation with her dad. Some of them were skeptical, but the Dreamies all believed she was just acting. She had to be.
Taeyong was first, climbing the wall surrounding Kang's territory, the others soon imitating him. The first guard was taken down by Jaehyun, who snapped his neck without making a sound. When Taeyong noticed the numbers of guards left from his hiding spot near the mansion, he understood why Iseul was so careless and always underestimated the danger. She got it from her father. Kang had only two men guarding the front door, and one at the back.
They all shook their heads in disappointment. That man was hated by so many gangs and he defended himself and his family so poorly?
He was about to regret it.
It didn't take 127 long to reach the back door while U was taking care of possible backups. Johnny kicked down the door, allowing them to get in the dark corridor had been a couple hours before.
"Hyung?" Taeyong called, putting a hand on his ear.
"I don't have anything; the scramblers are making it impossible for me to see anything."
The leader let out a curse, gesturing for the rest to follow him. "He has to be in here, search the entire house, starting by those rooms."
Iseul was in the house, but she had no idea that NCT was too, and she had to wait for a while before she heard the sound of her father's car, signaling that he was leaving. She ran down the stairs to go back to Jeno's cell, and she was relieved to see that the key was still on the wall.
"Iseul?" Jeno's weak voice reached her ears and her heart clenched.
"Hey, I'm here," she approached him. She had to find a way to free him, and she remembered the key that was still in her hand. That seemed almost too good to be true, but she needed to try.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm trying get you out of those, of course," she held the chains in front of his face.
"I knew you were lying to him," Jeno shot her his largest smile and she chuckled. Iseul turned the key in the lock, and her eyes widen when she realized it fit. The same lock for the door and the chains? Her father really was foolish.
Jeno rubbed his bruised wrists, trying to soothe the pain, and Iseul extended her hand for him to take. But as Jeno was about to, so she could help him get up after spending so much time on the ground, the door was suddenly kicked down.
The loud sound almost made the both of them jump, but Jeno's face lit up when he recognized his members.
Taeyong's face, however, went from relieved to see Jeno, to mad when his eyes landed on the girl next to him. "Guys," he spoke, "take Jeno out, I'll meet you at the car."
No one moved, afraid of what Taeyong had in mind.
"Uh, hyung, I don't think that- "
"I said take Jeno and leave."
The boy got up and observed his leader. He knew him, he knew Taeyong was angry at Iseul, but he didn't know why.
The man walked up to them but stopped at the girl, towering her with his height and she felt small, like a child.
"You," he spat. "You little- how could you betray us like that? You're a traitor, exactly like your bastard father."
The intensity of his words were nothing compared to the violence of his actions. He suddenly pushed her against the wall with such force that Iseul hurt her head against the hard and cold stone, making her wince in pain.
"Hyung!" Jeno yelled and he tried to interfere.
"Jeno, stay out of this!"
Iseul was trapped against the wall and Taeyong, her breathing was heavy and his grip on her tightened.
"She was helping me! I don't know what you think she did, but I swear she was getting m out of those chains!" he pointed at the metal links on the ground.
"Taeyong," Johnny spoke, "we're going, but you heard Jeno."
He marked a pause and gestured for the boy to follow him, "Don't do anything stupid," he warned.
And with that he left, the rest of 127 following behind. Doyoung had to literally drag Jeno out of the room, and Iseul held her breath as she was left alone with Taeyong, once again.
Here we go again, Iseul thought. Old habits die hard, I guess.—-
