“YOU choose! Priscille!” her authoritarian father yelled.
“That bastard or us?” he angrily said.
“Why? Why do I need to choose, dad? Puwede naman na wala akong piliin. Look, I already graduated—yes! Graduate na ako sa kurso na gusto ninyo para sa akin. Are you not proud of me?” she questions her family for always blocking her way. Her mother stayed in silent, hindi man lang siya nito ipinagtanggol sa asawa.
“Is it because he is not a med student that’s why you hated him that much?” her voice cracks, but she is trying to make herself calm. She’s tired of crying in front of her insensitive family.
One of her brothers was a nurse; her old sister was a doctor; her mom was a dentist; and her dad was a neurosurgeon. Her dad wants her to follow their profession. That’s why Priscille took nursing, though she disliked it before. She slowly embraced her profession, and now her father is forcing her to avoid her boyfriend, Onyx.
They hated Onyx because he was from the middle class and a criminology student. During their graduation, Priscille introduced her boyfriend to her family. Onyx and Priscille almost four years in a relationship that’s why her family was shocked then her father create a chaos. Harap-harapan nilang pinakita na ayaw nila sa boyfriend ni Priscille. Itatakwil si Priscille kapag hindi nasunod ang kagustuhan ng kaniyang mga magulang, and it caused Priscille too much pain and bitterness.
“I’ll choose you,” she whispered to her boyfriend while they spent their free time together at Onyx’s house.
“Mahihirapan ka lang at kasusuklaman tayo ng pamilya mo,” he is worried.
“Matagal na nila akong pinapahirapan, Onyx. From the very beginning, sila ang palaging nasusunod. Alam mo naman ang lahat ’di ba? Kahit ang kurso ko ay sila ang nasunod, pati ba naman ang lalaking mamahalin ko? Dapat ba sila rin ang masusunod?” she is complaining.
“Shhh, enough. Papangit ka na naman niyan.” Onyx is trying to make her smile. “I love you, and your wish is my command.”
“Sasama ako sa ’yo. Itakas mo na ako,” paglalambing ni Priscille.
“You brat! Porket mahal na mahal kita, e. Soon, we’ll do that. Pero huwag tayong magmadali dahil baka tayo ay magkamali,” makahulugang saad ni Onyx.
Yumakap si Priscille sa boyfriend niya. Matured mag-isip si Onyx kaya nagkakasundo sila dahil spoiled siya nito. Nasa plano na ang lahat. Naghihintay na lang sila ng tamang oras para maging malaya. Onyx will handle everything for them, kaya naghihintay na lang si Priscille. And while she’s waiting, she’s working as a volunteer at her father’s hospital to avoid being noticed.
They are so in love with each other. They planned to escape and follow their hearts.
