Annie woke up to someone slightly shaking her. She opened her eyes and saw Asher trying to wake her up.
Then the sound of fire alarms filled her head, making it ache. Annie shot up and looked at Asher.
"What's going on?! Where is everyone?!" Annie screamed, smoke filled her lunges.
"I don't know, I woke up to no one in here.... Well except you." Asher said rolling his eyes. Annie felt heat rush to here cheeks. She flung off the covers and started grabbing her equipment that was in the large suitcase.
"What the heck are you doing?! We need to get out of here!" Asher yelled at her. Annie ignored him and picked up the large suitcase.
"Leave it behind!" Asher yelled, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her to the door.
"You don't understand!" Annie yelled trying to get loose from his grip. While pulling her, he made her trip over a table and fall to the floor.
She grabbed her leg and held in a scream."Look what you freaking did!!" Annie screamed, using that as a way to release pain.
She tried to get up off the floor, but could walk on it. It was swelling and already purple."Great, just great." Asher said rolling his eyes. He picked her up in bridal style and made his way out of the dorm. Annie kicked and whacked his chest.
"Let me down Asher!" She yelled. Asher ignored her for a little, but once they got in the elevator he could take it anymore.
"Oh yeah, let you down. Okay sure, then leave you to burn in the fire. Real smart." Asher said practically yelling. Annie flinched when he started yelling at her. She was so vulnerable right now, she could go anywhere.
Asher closed his eyes and sucked in a breath. He knew changing was impossible, he didn't even know why he was trying. She sat quietly in his arms.
All of the sudden the elevator stopped, almost jolting them up. A loud bang sound crashed.
Annie screamed, and Asher dropped her.She grabbed her backside and rubbed it.
"What the heck just happened?!" Annie asked.
Asher smelled the air, and then went to the buttons. No matter how many times he pressed them, they wouldn't work."I think the fire got to the electrical wires...." Asher said. Annie looked at home worried.
"Does that means..... We're stuck here?" Annie asked in a raspy voice. She started couching profusely.
"It might start running again..." Asher said looking at the buttons.
"Might?" Annie asked still coughing. Asher looked back at her.
"Do you have asthma?" Asher asked suspiciously. Annie nodded, he rolled his eyes and huffed.
"Great."
Annie looked at him in disgust and her eyes began to fill with tears, for the first time in years."What's with you?! Do you have to be so awful?!" She yelled, then stared coughing.
"What's with you?! Do you have to be so strange?! Do you have to such a attitude?! Heartless?! Emotionless?!" Asher yelled back. Annie's eyes filled with tears, instead of holding them back like usual, she couldn't. Tears drained down her cheeks and she hid her face.
"Ever since you've come to this college! All you do his throw around a major attitude! I've seen it! It's almost as if you use people like a tool!" Asher went on. Every single word it home for some reason, cause more tears to fall. Annie realized.... Because they were true.Annie began to cough, and the room suddenly became hot.
Asher went to the metal door and felt it.
"I think the fires right outside this! It's hot!" Asher said desperately.
He quickly looked around and saw a opening at the top of the elevator. Well he was looking to see if there was a latch or something. Annie began to cough harder then usual, her head suddenly hurt, and she felt dizzy and sick.
Asher looked down at her, her face was pale and her lips looked parched.
Before he could say anything, she fell backwards.Asher quickly knelt down beside her. She had passed out. He grabbed his handkerchief out of his pocket and tied it around her face. It had suddenly grew very hot in the elevator.
He went to the little opened and tried to punch it open. He jumped and tried to see if it would budge. Finally, with a little effort, it had opened it.
He prayed that it was near a floor, and he prayed that that floor didn't have a fire on it.He grabbed Annie in one arm, and with the other he jumped and grabbed onto the opening. With all his strength he tried to pull the two of the up. The metal dug into his flesh, he felt blood draining. He hoped it didn't make him slip.
Asher pulled with all his strength, and somehow managed to get to the top. It was dark and metal was every where. He looked up and saw a opening. He knew it was a floor. He didn't know how he would get the two of them up.
He only knew one way. Asher grabbed her head lightly and prayed it didn't hurt her. As gently as he could, he threw her on the floor. He heard a thud and winced. He quickly reach and pulled himself up.
He picked her up and began to run, he searched for a staircase. And then finally found one. He went down the stairs as quickly as he could. Asher had almost felt like they were home free. And then he ran into it.
A blazing fire. His eyes widened and his throat went dry. The heat was unbearable. He knew it was the only way out. He hugged Annie tightly, trying his best to shield her.
With all his might, he ran down the steps. The fire singed his face, clothes, and hair. It instantly blistered his skin. He prayed that it didn't touch Annie.Finally. He got to the end of the fire. He ran as fast as he could down the stairs. Until he finally got to the exit. He slammed the bar with his shoulder and finally made it outside.
He was instantly met by hundreds of students, an ambulance, and fire truck pulling in.
Gasps broke out in the crowd. And paramedics ran to them.
He started feeling as if he was going to faint, he gently laid Annie in the grass. And then everything went....black......
