I didn't know who she was with but I honestly didn't really care. I mean... to be honest, I stopped paying attention after I found out who it was, it was too much energy trying to catch a look at her through the crowd. I put the AirPods back in and decided on an appetizer.
She was being very nice considering the circumstances, signing autographs, giving hugs, taking pictures. How could she not be getting annoyed with these people by now? I knew of Billie Eilish. I honestly really enjoyed her music. I found that first EP of hers around Christmas in 2017 and I wouldn't stop listening to it. Now the whole thing reminds me of Christmas. I never did much more than follow her instagram after that and maybe add a song or 2 to my playlists. My mom on the other hand... My mom was in love with billie. I never hear the end of it. My mom was gonna flip when I told her about this. I thought about trying to get a picture with her for a minute but I decided it wasn't worth it. I should just let the girl live. Let her breathe Jade, let her breathe.
Eventually though, the crowd went back to their seats, one by one. Once I felt there was some more free space around us, I looked over at her. Wow. She was so beautiful in person. Beautifully milky, clear skin, very light in complexion. Very full, pink lips. Thick, dark eyebrows. The iconic, slightly messy, head of dark hair with green roots. Piercing blue eyes. I thought for a moment about what it would feel like to make eye contact with those incredible ocean eyes. I couldn't stop staring, I don't know what got into me, I was being so rude. But I couldn't help it.
Eventually the man she was sitting with got up and left. It looked like It might've been someone in management, but he was young so he could've just been her friend or something. She was sitting alone in her booth, the tables surrounding us filled with her body guards. She studied the menu for a while, not noticing me rudely staring at her.
Well at least I thought she didn't notice me. Eventually she looked up, right at me. I felt my stomach drop. I tried to look away as quick as possible, but her eyes paralyzed me. Eventually I looked away, shielding my face, looking down at the table. I knew I was blushing so bad. I couldn't tell, but I think she was still looking, and after a minute or so, I heard, "Not hungry?". I looked up slowly, my jaw dropped a little after I realized she was talking to me. I wasn't sure what to say as I looked at her. Why am I so starstruck? Id barely even call myself a fan. "Foods probably gonna get cold.... If it aint already."
I looked over, my mozzarella sticks appetizer had been waiting for me. I didn't even notice the waiter give me the food. How embarrassing. I dont know what happened but I suddenly relaxed a little. I guess I like food. I let out a giggle. "My bad," I sighed, too embarrassed to think of an excuse for staring. She laughed a little bit at my reaction as I started on my food. I still tried catching a glimpse at her beauty here and there.
"what...?" She said to me through her laughs. "Do you like.. want a picture or something?" She suggested very sweetly. I couldn't believe I was still rudely staring, I'm so stupid.
"Um... Yeah sure." I let out after a couple of seconds.
"Why such hesitation?" She asked me jokingly, giggling at my discomfort. I laughed a little.
"I dont know... I'm not going to turn down a picture with an A-List celebrity if they literally ask me for one", I joked, "plus my mom loves you," I added with a laugh.
She let out a big laugh, "woah there with the attitude," she joked, " I wasn't asking for one, you just looked like you wanted something." She said jokingly, but defensively, ignoring the part about my mom.
"fine. I would be blessed to get a picture with you, your honor," I responded sarcastically, yet a little flirty. Why was I being flirty? I was with someone... And I'm pretty sure Billie's straight. Not to mention completely out of my league. She laughed in response as she scooted over in her booth, gesturing for me to sit next to her. I took out my phone to take a selfie and we got a couple of good ones. I mean I dressed up for the occasion and I looked great. She did too.
"Wow, you look great... thanks" I said before getting up to go back to my table.
"nah weirdo, thats you," she said. It kinda threw me off and I turned to look at her before standing up. Why was she so nice? Why was she treating me like we've known each other? But I did have to admit, talking to her just came naturally, and I was normally a pretty shy person.
I think she could sense the confusion in my look. She gave me a sort of concerned look back. "Why are you here alone?" I asked after not knowing what else to say.
"I'm not," she gestured at all the body guards surrounding us.
"you know what I mean," I responded giving her a look.
"uhhhh... Why the fuck are you alone?" She asked, jokingly, in response. She looked so adorable when she joked with me. I could tell I was entertaining her, she was no longer annoyed with me, if she even was in the first place.
"None ya damn business" I responded, laughing, starting to get up again.
"ahhh... this bitch got stood up", she said with a laugh, a little too loud for comfort. I looked back at her and blushed hard, so I quickly sat in the booth seat across from her to hide from any stares.
"No the fuck I did not" I said half joking and half defensively. I think she could tell I was a little embarrassed, and she was a little right, so her energy changed.
"mmmmm... Are you sure?" She said with more of a concerned tone, still messing with me though. She looked into my eyes with a little bit of a smirk.
"Well... Sorta... But not really" I responded, leaving her with a confused look.
"Ummm explain?" She said laughing at my response. I relaxed a little in my seat.
"Well... She canceled on me about an hour before the date. But I still came because I needed a big self care moment, you feel me?" I tried to respond with a positive tone, trying to hide how disappointed I actually was.
She began to nod her head in understanding before a waiter interrupted us, "Hey ladies, can I get you guys anything to drink for tonight?"
"oh nah im not-" I started before Billie cut me off, nudging my foot with hers.
"fuck it, why not?" She said to me in a low voice before turning to the waiter to order sodas for the two of us. As the waiter left, she reached out a hand to me, filled with rings on almost every finger. "I'm Billie".
