The other night dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms~

Kageyama slept peacefully in his bed, unconsciously smiling as he dreamt about his lovely ball of sunshine, Hinata

When I awoke dear, I was mistaken
So I hung my head and I cried~

Light floated into his room through an opening in the curtain. Kageyama woke up, sitting up as the sunlight danced around. Realizing it was just a dream, his unconscious smile slipped from his face, a grimace taking over his features. He gripped onto the sheets lightly as droplets fall from his eyes.

~Flashback~

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine~

Hinata and Kageyama were hanging out after practice, happy to be in each others' presence. It has been a few months since they've confessed to each other, they had never been more satisfied than ever.

You make me happy when skies are gray~

As rain cascaded down the window and as thunder rumbled through the sky, Hinata had his arms around Kageyama, resting his head on the taller male's chest. Hinata sucked in a breath as his heartbeat slows down to a steady rhythm. Kageyama traced patterns on the orange-haired boy's back, calming him down.

"You'll never know dear, how much I love you." Kageyama quietly mutters, but is loud enough for Hinata to hear. He softly giggles at his statement, embracing Tobio a bit tighter as if it were his response.

Please don't take my sunshine away~

He enjoyed this moment. This intimacy. This feeling. He didn't want it to end, he wanted to stay like this forever. He wanted to stay with the person he cherished the most, the reason for his smile.

"I'll always love you and make you happy."

Those words rang in Hinata's head. The words Kageyama told him, saying it like it was a promise to him. But he isn't feeling happy right now. Tobio wasn't making him feel the way he is supposed to.

And nothing else could come between~

Kageyama shouted at the smaller male as he misses another one of his tosses.
"What is your problem?! We've been practicing all this time but you've made no improvement whatsoever!! The only thing you've done is make your spikes weaker and mess up your timing. How stupid are you?!?!"
All Hinata could do was take in all those hurtful words. Kageyama made him feel like everything was his fault. Hinata just stood there as tears threatened to fall.

The shouting and degrading continued throughout practice. It continued for the next days as well. Hinata feared that his lovable, changed boyfriend was returning to being the tyrant king of the court.

But if you leave me to love another~

Hinata confronted Kageyama, asking the raven-haired boy questions. Having fed up of the recent attitude the taller male had been showing.
"What was that all about? You didn't have to shout at me. You didn't have to insult me." Hinata tried to express his thoughts.
"I'm not the problem here, it's you! You're getting sloppier with each training, it's like you've been slacking!" Kageyama argued back, raising his voice.
"Well maybe, you could've been a bit more supportive?? Y'know, encourage me???" Hinata responds, tears pricking at the corner of his tired eyes.
"Well maybe, if you actually put in more effort into hitting my tosses, I would've acknowledged your effort more!!" Kageyama retorted, shouting at the shorter, trembling male just like he did during practice.

You'll have shattered all of my dreams~

"E-excuse me?! Tobio, do you know how I feel about-" Hinata stuttered out, being cut off by Kageyama.
"Who cares how you feel?!" Kageyama blurted out, quickly slapping a hand over his mouth once he realized what he just said.
Hinata, tears streaming heavily now, dashed out the door of Kageyama's house.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine~

Hinata dashed off, his vision blurred.
Kageyama quickly chased after him, calling out to Hinata, yelling apology after apology.
Shoyo had his right arm over his face, trying to dry off his damp face. He ran across the road, the sound of a horn blaring in the distance.
Kageyama caught up to Hinata. But when he saw him, it was too late.
"HINATAAA!!" Kageyama screamed out, his face wet and eyes puffy from his own tears.

You make me happy when skies are gray~

The impact was too hard for Kageyama to handle.
He ran towards the fallen body laid on the concrete. He saw as Hinata's hazelnut eyes fade in and out of consciousness. He picked up Shoyo and held him close as he knelt on the asphalt road.
"You'll never know dear, how much I love you..." Hinata whispered as he mustered up enough strength to caress Tobio's tear-stained cheek. Hinata's lips curled up to form a small, sad smile. Kageyama watched as his boyfriend's arm slowly goes limp and falls.

~end of flashback~

Kageyama kneels down as he places a bouquet of flowers onto the dirt. He mutters a quick prayer. He lifts his hand as he touches the stone in front of him. Grazing his thumb over the imprinted writings, he can't help but let a tranquil smile play on his lips.

"Please don't take my sunshine away..."
