{BAKERY AU}
Genre: Fluff
1467 WordsAs the wind blew and the sky darken, Tsukishima made his way from work when he felt rain drops hit his face. He cursed under his breath, regretting his decision of relying on the weather forecast. He was tired from today's load, he didn't need another stressor interfering. Luckily, he wasn't so far from a small bakery a few steps away from where he stood. He quickly walked over there.
Upon entering, a little bell chimed as the door swung open. The smell of various breads and pastries swarmed Tsukishima's senses. He looked around the place, noticing how empty it was. Maybe around 3 people but that was about it.
'Well, might as well buy something while waiting out this drizzle.' He thought, as he walked over to the counter.
No one was at the counter, the only thing present was a small bell. He dinged the bell as he stood, growing impatient. He folded his arms as he averted his gaze to the window behind him, looking at the now heavy rain that poured outside. He whipped his head back forwards upon hearing footsteps and the sound of a curtain being pushed aside. He was met with a shorter male with green-ish hair, his cheeks covered in small brown freckles, as if it were a constellation in the night sky. He had a light skin complexion and hazelnut eyes. Said male walked towards the counter with a smile gracing his features. He looks up at Tsukishima and asks,
"Hi, what can I get for ya?"'This guy probably wants some black coffee and plain bread based on his looks.'
Yamaguchi, the bakery owner, thought to himself. He traced his eyes over the taller male's facial features. He took in how he had cream-coloured hair, slight messy. His eyes that had a shade of golden-brown in them looking through rectangular lenses. His fair complexion and tall build. His train of thought was interrupted by Tsukishima.
"One slice of strawberry shortcake." was all he simply requested.
"O-oh, right away! Please take a seat."
Tsukishima pays and takes a seat near the window.
The bakery owner went to prepare the customer's order in a short amount of time.Yamaguchi didn't expect someone as stern as him to order something as sweet as a slice of strawberry shortcake. He thought it was really cute, it's like seeing the soft side of an otherwise complete, blunt stranger.
"Here you go." Yamaguchi says as he gently places the plate down on the table,
"Would you like anything else?" He asks, putting his arms behind his back.
"I don't. Thank you." Tsukishima replied nonchalantly. Yamaguchi walked back to the counter to tidy it up, wiping it in the process.Tsukishima lifted his fork as he took a small piece from the cake. He brought it to his mouth as he savoured the sweetness of the pastry. He closed his eyes for a short while as he chewed, opening them again once he had swallowed.
Unbeknownst to Tsukishima, the bakery owner was looking towards his way, observing how the other ate the cake as if he were tasting heaven. He can't help but think how adorable the tall male looked as he savoured and ate the sweet dessert. He quickly looked away with a slight blush when he realized his thoughts. Huffing, he went back to organizing the shelf display. Despite his efforts, he still caught himself stealing a few glances from the undeniably cute, tall stranger.
Once Tsukishima had finished, he made a mental note to himself to come here often. He really loved the way this bakery made their strawberry shortcake. It was tastier than any other brand he had tried before and surprisingly, was more affordable.
What Tsukishima meant by often, he basically meant everyday. He'd always stop by the small bakery after work to relieve sone stress and of course eat his favourite dessert. It felt like the place was some sort of paradise for him. The bakery owner was extremely polite as well, although he took notice of how his face was always dusted pink.
Yamaguchi saw as Tsukishima came by everyday, almost around the same time. He thought that it was some routine for him to drop by and eat a slice of strawberry shortcake. He couldn't be more happier though, he got to see the blond-haired male everyday. He didn't believe it at first, but he soon realized he had developed some kind of crush on the regular customer.
His face started heating up more whenever Tsukishima would walk in. He became more jittery and nervous around him as well. So, in order not to embarrass himself or accidentally blurt something out, he refrained from talking more and just resorted to hums and nods of his head. He would only talk when he needed to.
During one of Tsukishima's daily visits, he noticed that the bakery owner seemed more quiet than usual. He brushed it off, savouring his slice in peace. Although he wouldn't admit it, not only did he look forward to eating his favourite dessert, but he secretly looked forward to seeing the adorable bakery owner. He took notice of his reserved but cheery demeanour, Tsukishima really liked that about him. Not to mention the shorter male's politeness and his punctuality. He hadn't notice his apparent crush growing from within him.

Today, Tsukishima was let off work rather later than usual. He briskly walked over to the bakery, hoping his favourite dessert was there to at least lift up his mood by a bit. He entered the bakery, noticing the owner already standing there. He walked up and asked for his usual order.
"Oh, I'm really sorry! We had just ran out of strawberry shortcakes..." Yamaguchi rubs the back of his neck, a sympathetic expression shown on his face as he looks at the obviously stressed out male in front of him. With a sigh, Tsukishima replies "It's alright. May I sit here for awhile though?"
Yamaguchi nodded his head as he watched the tall male walk over to his usual seat by the window.Yamaguchi didn't like seeing him like this. He couldn't help but sadly stare at the blond, the tiredness and fatigue clearly present in his facial features. The bakery owner's heart wrenches at the sight.
It continued this way for 3 days straight. Yamaguchi was slightly fed up at seeing his crush come in to his bakery only to be disappointed. He told himself that he should save one slice just for him, and that it could be a potential conversation starter. He didn't know if Tsukishima wanted to talk to him or not, but it was worth a try. Setting aside a slice of strawberry shortcake, he waited for the taller male to come.
Tsukishima decided to visit the bakery after another overtime at work. Even though he expected his favourite dessert to be gone by now, he still went there anyways. The little bell chimed, indicating a customer. Yamaguchi's head shot up as he saw Tsukishima.
Walking over, Tsukishima asked,
"There isn't any left again, right?"
"Actually...I saved you a slice..!"
Yamaguchi responds as he grins at him,
"Take a seat and I'll bring it to you."
Tsukishima was taken aback by the smaller male's response. He muttered a quick "Oh.", paid, then went to his usual seat.Yamaguchi took out the slice he saved and brought it over to Tsukishima.
"Here, enjoy!" Yamaguchi says as he places down the dessert.
He was about to walk away when he felt someone grab his wrist.
"Wait." Tsukishima says.
"Um, y-yes?" Yamaguchi asks as he turns around to see that the blond-haired male had stood up."I never got your name."

As a few months passed by, Tsukishima came to the bakery daily as usual. The only thing different now is that he had someone to look forward to. He and Yamaguchi had become closer together over time, Tsukishima really appreciated the bakery owner's company. They'd even share his slice sometimes.
After spending almost everyday with each other, Tsukishima had confessed his feelings that night. Yamaguchi wrapped his arms around the taller male as he reciprocated his feelings. Tsukishima pulled away from the hug and gazed into the other's eyes. Slowly leaning in, their lips met for a sweet, loving kiss. As sweet as the strawberry shortcake Tsukishima loved.
Extra:
"You know you love me! You wanna kiss me! You wanna hug me!" Yamaguchi teased his boyfriend who was eating his dessert. Tsukishima walks over to him and leans in, almost as if going in for a kiss. Yamaguchi expectantly stops speaking, his face on fire. Tsukishima then takes a bite off his fork then walks away, leaving a blushing Yamaguchi behind.
