* Ariel's P.O.V *
- Later That Night -
"Babe!" I screamed. About 5 minutes later, Brandon comes running in the bedroom. "Why the hell are you screaming bloody murder?!" He complained. "Can you hand me the remote control please?" I said, rubbing my belly. He sucked his teeth. "That's what you were screaming for? Are you serious?" He says. I nodded my head. "Yeah, why?" I said. "Man, I thought you fell or some shit. Don't ever scare me like that again. Do you understand me?" Brandon says, handing me the tv remote. "Okay, dad." I say, sarcastically. Brandon lies down in bed next to me.
"How was your day?" Brandon asked me. I closed my laptop. "I actually had a good day! How about you, my love?" I said, returning the question. My fiancé lay his head on my thigh and sigh deeply. "My day was actually shitty. I'm not even gonna lie to you,baby." He tells me. "Aww, how come?" I wanted to know. I reach over and run my fingers through Brandon's hair. He rubbed his eyes.
"Well, my mother isn't doing too good. I went to see her today." He says. Brandon's mother and I never really saw eye to eye. But we did have one thing in common; we both loved her son unconditionally. About a year ago, Brandon's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The last time we spoke to her, things seemed to be fine. I guess this time that wasn't the case.
"What happened? Is she back in the hospital?" I pressed. "Yeah, the doctors are saying that she doesn't have that long." Brandon tells me. "Did they say how long she had?" I wanted to know. "About a month." He says to me. I covered my mouth in surprise. "I'm so sorry, baby." I tell him. "I'll be alright. We just gotta pray about it." Brandon says.
I was so proud of Brandon. He was taking this way better than I would've honestly. My baby was so strong. Normally in a situation like this, Brandon would've lashed out and took his anger out on the wrong person. These past couple years, though, he's really changed for the better. He's shown absolutely nothing but growth. I loved it.
"Everything's gonna be okay." I tell him. Brandon sat up and looked at me. "Why are you so good to me?" He asked. "Because I love you!" I tell him. He smiles, leans in and grabs my chin. Then, he kissed me gently. Then, he reached over and rubbed my belly. "You really carrying my seed. That's crazy!" He says, smiling. I put my hand over his. "I know, baby. This is what I've always wanted." I tell him. "When I first met you, mama, I knew it was you that I wanted to be with for the rest of my life." Brandon tells me. Still rubbing my belly, he leans down and kisses our unborn child. "I love you so much, baby. I promise Ima give y'all the world." My fiancé says. I kissed him. "We are so lucky to have you, baby." I said.- 1 Week Later -
"I just wanna have this baby already!" I complained. "Pfff, how you think I feel?" Gia said. I laughed at her. "I'm sorry, friend!" I say. It was a lovely Saturday afternoon, Gia and I were chilling in her backyard by the pool. August was teaching Sky how to swim. Their relationship was adorable. I hope Brandon has this type of bond with P when she's born.
"I'm actually terrified of being a mom." I admit. Gi fixed her oversized glasses and looked at me. "What are you nervous about?" She asked. "So many things. Like, what if I'm not good at being a mom? Or what if P doesn't like me?" I said. "I think you're gonna be a great mom! And P is already lucky to have amazing parents like you and Brandon. Y'all got this." Gia says. "You think so?" I said. "I know so." My best friend tells me. I smiled and grabbed her hand. "I love you, Gi!" I said. "I love you, too. You got this." She assures me.
"You know how August told me he ran into Asia at Target a week ago?" Gia says. "Yeah, why what happened?" I wanted to know. "Well, apparently she has a baby." My best friend says. "I told you this! I saw her a few weeks ago at the grocery store." I said. "Oh yeah, you did. I'm sorry!" Gia says. "It's okay." I said. "Well, August says she has a son with Terrell Whyte." My best friend tells me. "Terrell Whyte that plays for the Lakers?" I said. Gia nodded her head. "Yup." She says. I laughed. "I'm not surprised. She's such an opportunist." I said. "Right? Tell me why she tried to play me." Gia says. I took a sip of my lemonade. "How she try to play you?" I asked. "She tried to be funny and asked August who was Sky's mama. Cause he had sky with him." Gia explains. "Oop! She tried it!" I said. "Girl, I know! So August was like 'Really?' Like girl don't act like you don't know we still together." Gia says. "Right." I said, wanting to hear more. "Tell me why this bitch says, in front of my child mind you, 'Oh, so you telling me you still with that hoe Gia?'" Gia says. I gasped. "No she didn't. You lying!" I pressed. "I'm so serious! That's what August told me." My best friend says to me. "She is so pressed." I said. "Girl, pressed like a damn panini!" Gia says. I laughed. "So what did August say?" I wanted to know. "His response was my favorite part. He told her 'First of all, I married her. Second of all don't you ever talk about the mother of my kids. Especially in front of my child.' Or something along those lines. He cussed her ass out! And I wish I was there to see." Gia says. I laughed way too hard. "That's what she get for tryna be in somebody business." I said. "Right." Gia says. "I've never met anybody so damn miserable." Gia continued. "Listen, I'm glad you ain't tell me that sooner cause I would've beat her ass like she stole something." I said. "See you can't be doing that. You about to be somebody's mama!" Gi reminded me. "You right. I can't be out here fighting people cause if she touch me I'm suing." I said. We both laughed. "You're crazy!" Gi says. "This I know." I said.
