"I knew it. I knew it was gonna be a boy!" Ariel cheers. I laughed. "I had a feeling. Something about this pregnancy is way different than my first two." I said. "Because you're having a boy, duh!" My best friend says. I playfully roll my eyes. "You're a nut." I tell her.
I had just gotten home from the doctors office. Today, I was 16 weeks pregnant and we were expecting our first boy! I was going into my second trimester and let me tell you. This pregnancy was way different than my first 2 pregnancies. It was a good thing, though. We were excited.
"You went to the doctors alone or no?" Ari asked. "No, August was with me." I said, resting in the backyard. "Oh okay. I only asked because last time he couldn't make it." My best friend says to me. My last doctors appointment, my husband couldn't make it because he was in the studio. He was so upset. That was in the past though.
"Baby, I made you some jasmine tea." August says, handing me a steamy cup of tea. "Mmm, thank you." I said. Jasmine tea was my favorite and August knew that. "How does August feel about having a son?" Ari questioned. I smiled. "Girl, he's so excited! It's the cutest thing." I said. "That's adorable." Ariel gushed.
August and I were so in love. I didn't wanna get all mushy gushy, but fuck it. He was such a great husband and I was so appreciative of him. Not only was he a great husband, but he was also an amazing father to our baby girls. They loved their daddy.
"You know he thought Nala was gonna be a boy?" I said to Ariel. We were on FaceTime. Ari laughed on the other end of the phone. "That's actually hilarious." She says. I joined in on the laughter. "He was pissed when he found out he was wrong." I said, almost peeing myself.
"I'm gonna have to fuck Leire up, Gi." Ari said out of nowhere. "Uh uh, why?!" I asked. "Cause she keep talking shit on social media." Ariel says. "What she be saying?" I wanted to know. "First of all, I have her blocked. So my other cousin Myra always sends me screenshots." Ari said. I laughed. "You stay getting somebody to send you screenshots." I said. "Hell yeah!" Ariel says to me.
"She just always talking shit about things she knows nothing about. Like damn stay in your lane." Ari said. "Girl, I know. It be ya own family." I say. I finished my tea and was now working on some mozzarella sticks. I'm gonna be on the toilet later, but that's okay. "And I wasn't even gonna tell you about this cause I don't want you stressing out about anything. But you're my best friend in the entire world and you deserve to know so... here we go." Ari says. "Girl, you know I don't give a fuck about nothing that girl be saying. She don't know me." I said, meaning every word.
"She said that you quote on quote, 'stay pregnant.'" Ari says. "And she's just mad because she's infertile as fuck!" I said. Ariel laughed. "Damn, Gi. You ain't have to do her like that." Ari tells me. "Now you know I don't like to talk about people and their fertility issues because to me that's a whole new low. But this bitch is miserable and just be coming for any and everybody!" I said. "I know, I know, girl." Ariel says. "And I know that's your cousin and everything but..." "Girl, fuck her!"
"I just don't get it. How can you talk shit about somebody you don't know?" I asked. August shook his head while he rubbed lotion on my growing belly. "And you don't even be bothering nobody." He says. "Not nobody!" I said. "I wouldn't worry about it, baby. She's miserable and clearly doing it for attention." My husband tells me. I take a deep breath and close my eyes.
"I don't know what it is about pregnant pussy. But that shit just taste different!" August says. I laughed at him. "You lucky the kids sleep!" I said. He stuck his tongue out and licked my ear. "Eww, August!" I whined. He ran away before I could get him. I loved his goofy ass so much.
August had just finished taking my soul, if you know what I mean. We were now in the kitchen, making lunch for when our baby girls. They took a nap together and were now playing in their room. Sky was such a good big sister to Nala. She was overprotective of her, and their bond was unbreakable. I loved my babies.
My phone vibrated. I was getting a call from an unrecognizable number. "Who the hell is calling me from a New York number?" I said out loud. "Let me answer it." August says. "Absolutely not!" I say going to the other side of the kitchen. "Hello?" I say. "Hi, I'm calling to speak to a Gia Sanders." A female voice says. "This is she. May I ask who's calling?" I said, even though I legally changed my last name once I got married. "Oh, hi! My name is Samia Thomas. I'm your sister."
"I'm sorry. I don't have any siblings. Last time I checked, I was an only child." I said. "Is Leon Sanders you father?" Samia says. "Yes but I haven't talked to or seen my father in years." I told her. "That's because he's been in New York." My alleged sister tells me. I was speechless.
Growing up, my father was a Deadbeat. When my mother got pregnant with me, she was only 17. My father was a year older and was in college. He was the one who told my mother to get an abortion. This motherfucker told my mom that he wasn't ready for a child. He also gave my mother an ultimatum; either she got an abortion, or they would no longer be together. My mother chose to keep me. I haven't seen my father in I don't know how long.
"Really? Wait, how old are you?" I asked. "I just turned 26." Samia says. Wow. She was only 3 years younger than me. "And how did you get my number?" I wanted to know. "I found your clothing website and your number was on the website." She says. Interesting. I have to take my phone number off of my website now.
"Mom, how come you never told me my dad was in New York?" I asked. "Chile, I haven't seen or heard from your father in 29 years." My mother says to me. I had invited my mother because I missed her, but to also see if she could tell me anything about my father having anymore kids. We were drinking tea. Sky and Nala were watching "Moana".
"Guess who I got a call from." I said. "Who?" My other wanted to know. "This woman named Samia. She told me that she was my sister." I explained. "Are you serious?" My mother said. I nodded my head and sipped my tea. "Yup." I say. "What did y'all talk about?" "She just told me that she lived in New York for about 5 years. She's from Oakland. She went to NYU. Her boyfriends name is Mike, I think she said. She has a 1 year old son named MJ. Those kinda things." I say to my mom. "Well, that's something." My mother says.
My mother didn't really show any emotions. When I was a child, we never really talked about my dad. He was never around so why the hell should he be a topic of conversation? It just didn't make sense.
